Steering boot grease
i just bought a mobile 1 synthetic grease which states that extreme pressure grease recommended for all- purpose automotive service. Max performance and protection in suspension ball joints, universal joints, steering linkages and chassis. (the picture attached is what i got. Got the pic from another website) This grease is RED. On Google, i found a pic of a dude using this grease on the brake shims...where brake grease is suppose to be.. Can i use this under the steering boot for ANY cars?
If not, what grease should i get?
thank you

I haven't looked closely on the 350Z but many modern vehicles don't have "greasable" ball joints and are sealed units. Even if it does have unsealed units it's not likely they need to be re-greased unless there is a leak in the rubber covering the ball joint. If the 350Z has it, you should see a grease nipple at the bottom or side of the ball joint where you can attach a grease gun. For this, I'm not sure how your "can" of grease will work unless you can find a gun that takes the grease in the raw. The grease gun I have has a hose that can attach to the nipple on the end of the ball joint. I bought one tube of Mobile 1 grease (red like yours) about 6 years ago and still haven't used it all up! The reason I bought my gun and tube originally was because I replaced the ball joints on a couple of my vehicles. The replacements were un-greased and required me to put grease in through the grease nipples.
One note of caution (I learned this the hard way
). If greasing the ball joints through the nipple, you need to be extra careful not to overfill it with pressure or you can pop the rubber cover off of the ball joint and it will leak through the side (usually these are held on with a circlip).
For the steering boots, again typically they shouldn't need anything. In order to grease the boots, you would need to remove the clip on the end to open it up and fill it. A more important thing to probably check is that your steering boots don't have cracks and aren't leaking steering fluid (which would indicate a leak in your steering rack).
Aside from vehicles I've found lots of other uses for the grease and grease gun. I've used the grease on my garage door, squeeky door hinges on a couple of my other cars, and varioius other motorized machines.
