Default my list of genral newb engine questions i need answered

1. i want to do a bottom end rebuild on my engine using the same block i haven't decided on fi or na just yet but when it comes to just replacing pistons rods bearings ect do you need to re sleeve the block can you just drop the pistons in or do you have to resurface it and if so do you step up the piston size to match.

2.when doing camshafts is there a specific group of camshafts for fi vs na i.e certain lift or durations ect you should or shouldn't use

3. i have about 88k in miles on my car should i get my heads reworked if i go fi or for a full na setup. iv read that unless your really looking to push for a large hp number most people leave them alone

I dont even know where to start with you....if you are planning on going FI with turbos to push over 400whp then get a new shortblock from someone like forged performance, GTM, or kyle at importpartspro, then theres cosworth is you got the dough. You will save yourself money and time. Believe me. Plus they know exactly what they are doing. Only if you plan to build a 600whp+ monster should you consider getting m.i.d. sleeves for your block. If you want to keep it a daily driver and not a pain to drive then for great reliability (on a budget) you can get head gaskets, ARP main/head studs, and a number of other things depending on your budget like water/meth injection, oil cooler, colder thermostat, colder spark plugs, radiator and hoses, return fuel system (our cars don't have a return fuel line making it a "return less fuel system") to just name a few. Everything depends on what kind of build you want to do. Eventually you'll want to get the most basic bolt ons like header back exhaust for breathability, intake manifold/plenum spacer, as well as driveline upgrades like clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, reinforced pivotball, stainless steel clutch line to just name a few.
You don't want to cam a stock block daily driver. Depending on the cam you get depending on the lift and duration of the cam you will have to upgrade the springs. For cams with high lift you need upgrades springs. I would suggest replacing the whole valvetrain while your at it or just getting new upgraded heads. It all depends on your budget and your build goal. The higher the lift and duration is of a cam the longer the valves will be open to create the most airflow through the heads. 264degree duration by 10.8mm of lift is ok for OEM valve springs (stock valve springs).
As far as the heads on the VQ go they are good for up to a reliable 800hp from what i have heard. But if you are going for a big build like that you have already invested a large amount of money for the turbos so im sure you have already dished out money for upgraded heads for better airflow.
There is a big difference in NA and FI builds with different parts needed/used. Pick what you want to build then get the parts needed.

One last thing..... USE THE F*****G SEARCH OPTION!!!

Hope i helped you out.....let me know of any other questions if you can't find them by searching.....
