Default 120MPH cabin pop???

Hey guys i was testing out my Z and just enjoying time. I got my car up to 120MPH and i heard a loud pop which seemed to sound like it was inside the cab. This pop was clear as a balloon pop and i heard it coming from the passenger side of the car. I pulled over immediately and check my tires, they were all good. Also a key point that i know your all gonna ask is when i heard it did i feel anything on the wheel or pedal that changed? No, the pedals didnt move or jitter nor did the steering wheel. Which leads me to believe its not a big problem. Ive accelerated over 120mph tons of times before and even up to and over 140MPH and this has never happened. I have no aftermarket parts done to my car besides a high flow filter. The car is an 03 and i have never had one problem with the car before as it only has high 60,000 miles. any suggestions or answers, would be nice. Thanks

Maybe something (like a door) in the heater or AC ductwork moved in response to the pressure.

Your Z breaking the sound barrier... lol. j/k. Could be something striking the car, like a rock or something along those lines...

+1 something hitting the car...

you ever hit a really big bug driving 80mph? it sounds like a softball hit your car.

Your car is just telling you to stop driving like you're fast and furious. Be safe, drive safe.

Probably a rock hitting underneath the cab.

Gonna agree with a rock or something hitting the underside of the car or an inner fender liner. Can be quite loud at speed.

You know what my best friend's dad used to tell us before we got in the car? "Drive safe, drive fast." Works well for me

Lexington SC, and i was going down I-20. I had passed all the traffic so all the traffic was atleast 1 mile behind me and there wasn't any more cars atleast another mile in front of me. So im not to sure, the car hasn't acted up or done anything weird. I pulled all my tires off to check and make sure i hadn't busted and belts. Everything looked good, im running nitto nt555 tires and there rated safely for high speeds. and the main reason i was going this fast today was to test out the cruise control cause i seen on another thread that someone was having cruise control issues and one guy had responded to just set the cruise control on over 100MPH. and i just had to test it out and you cant do that. you cant do it below 22MPH or over 92MPH.

If it wasn't the sonic boom... it definitely was something hitting your car.

The real question is, you say you've done over 140mph... how fast have you had the car?

The fastest i have been in the car is prolly 158MPH. It took a while to get there though, i can get to 120 pretty quickly but the farther you get past 120 it takes longer to accelerate. But here in SC around 10:00 the interstates are pretty slack toward Lexington on I-20 so i have plenty of room to enjoy without putting too many lives at risk.

I was cruising on the fwy 50-60 mph... when I heard a loud pop. Sounded like something shot my car. Came from passenger side...

Later on I pulled over... looked outside the passenger door. There I saw.... the deepest and biggest ding ever. Pfft not even a ding... more like a hole. But didn't go through all the way. It sucks =[

Still didn't know how that happened... all I know could be a rock traveling super sonic speed targeted towards my passenger door =[
