Unhappy Engine treatment problems and engine flushes

Before I start I know I'm an idiot on this one, but here it is.
I recently had my regular 3k mile oil change in my 06 350z and saw that with the major services they use MOC oil treatment, so I figured I'd just go to the parts store and grab a can of something to avoid the dealership cost. I bought a can of Restore brand oil treatment, and when I went and poured it in the funnel and engine I noticed to my surprise that it was super thick, but too late. Almost immediately after I was on my way home my engine started running rough, and when I would come to a stop and the rpm's dropped down the engine would almost stall, and I could hear a lot of piston slap, and the oil pressure needle was jumping around, and then the service engine light came on. WTF!!
So, I take it to the dealership and they said the intake valve timing control solenoids, on both sides, were dead.
And here is my concern...
When they replaced the solenoids they said it would be a good idea to flush the engine so it would remove any of that thick crap out of the area of the solenoids so as to avoid having the new solenoids damaged. Not knowing anything about engine flushes I figured it was a smart thing to do.
Now I see these engine flushes they do can be more dangerous than beneficial in that they can dislodge particulates that can clog up small passages in the engine resulting in restricted oil flow and pressure. I'm even more pissed off at the dealership since Nissan has recommended not performing these flushes.
Now I'm freaking out thinking any day my engine gonna crap out.
Does anybody have any experience or suggestions?

In general, don't put additives in your oil or gas. They are basically "snake oil".

I looked up Restore Oil Treatment and they claim it doesn't affect your oil viscosity so I'm not sure how it could be that thick and have a small can of it cause significant problems.

I don't think you have a whole lot of choice on the flush. You've put something in the engine that has clogged it up. Short of dismantling it and flushing it out that way, the only other way to get it out your engine is with a flush. I guess the potential harm would be related to what they use to flush it.

I think the flush is ok, I wouldn't read too much into that, but the Restore shouldn't have done that. I've used some pretty thick stuff in my engine (not Restore) and it didn't show any problems other than high pressure.

Most oil additives are "snake oil" as DaveZ#3 pointed out. There's a reason that there have been so many over the years. They've been known to cause catastrophic engine failure in a number of engines...search the net, and you could dig some stuff up about them. Slick 50, Dura Lube, Lucas, Restore additives=total waste of time. I dont even use gas treatment. Only a good synthetic oil and K&N filter with 5000 mile oil changes.

Yeah, I thought the whole thing might just have been a coincidence, but it was so immediate. It just didn't feel right. And I thought maybe that having that thick stuff sitting on the top of the oil in the engine it might have got sucked straight up. The car only has 67k mile on it and I'm religious about oil changes so hopefully there isn't any buildup that will break loose and cause havoc. The whole thing was a big mistake. I won't ever do something that stupid again. I just wanted to do something nice for my baby, right? Ha! Now I'm in that paranoid state where I'm listening to every little noise and panicking like a hypochondriac (not that I don't do that anyways). I guess I can just hope for the best.
I just looked at the repair bill and it said "customer requests engine flush". I didn't request anything! I just approved the repairs! I guess that's so they can cover their *** if something goes wrong. And then if I get NNA involved they can just say it was my fault. Aahhhg!
