Default Blew my VQ

Hey Guys,

So I recently came back in town after being gone for a month. Being so excited to see my car after so long (seemed like years) I immediately turned it on, let it warm up, and drove off. While on a highway, I raced a Nismo 370z (Female driver & stick shift). I hit 140mph and redlined the engine because I wasn't paying attention. I know, it was stupid to go that fast and not keep an eye on my odometer......

Anyways, I redlined and immediately heard some violent knocking coming from under the hood. I didn't check the oil before I left the house, and of course, it was terribly low.

I destroyed a rod-bearing, and shattered both timing-chain glides. My car is blue-booked to be worth 13k. Should I repair the engine, replace it, or just sell as is?

well maybe get a quote on what you car is worth with a blown engine.. and then price out the price of replacement.. u can ask a mechanic or sumone on here in the regional section in the DFW area for a trusted mechanic (cause nissan is gonna f*ck your wallet) and ask them how much they would charge to strip yours down and install it on a short block... and then price out jus buyin a fully ready to install used engine.. and weigh it all out..

Yeah that sounds like the smartest way to go about this. Thanks.

Yes, it was stupid to not keep an eye on your odometer. You might unknowingly break the 100,000 mile mark and not get a picture.

Wow haven't driven the car in a long time and you didn't bother to check the oil....an blew your engine street racing a chick best fail story ever

It might be more than a short block when you spin a bearing, bearing material can go through out the engine and wipe out the cams and heads as well, hope for the best.

Yeah...it was a woman stick shifting a 370z. Her faster car and higher level of intelligence beat me....sadly enough

In all honesty, she was a car length and half ahead. Not much for two N/A cars in my opinion.

The level of my failure is atrocious, I know. But seriously though, although I acknowledge the fact that me not maintaining my car was the root of the problem, Z's have some horrible oil consumption issues.

Can I get an Amen?

I guess it's safe to say that you had an '06? If you have some emotional attachment to the car, go for the repair.. otherwise look for something else or '07+
