Default first time buyer questions!!

so im getting ready to buy a 350 at the end of summer, im looking at the 03 enthusiast trim cus of the info ive read on about it, i wanna know some of ur guys' thoughts on this. and ive been told that most cars tranny can only withstand its factory power and if u want to add power its wise to swap for a better engine and tranny, my question here, can the stock engine and tranny of the 350 safely handle upgrades such as headers, cold air intakes, throttle bodies, ect.??

thanks for ur time,

Yes... in NA form the 350Z engine and trans can handle just about anything you can throw at it. The 03-04 models have an older version of the trans that is prone to the 3rd gear syncro going bad after abuse. The upgrade is to get a newer version of the same trans with the 009 code on it. If you want to max out your NA mods, bolt them up and get an UpRec tune and call it a day.

BTW, NA mods are pretty much a waste of time and money. Small gains compared to $$$ spent. TT/ST stock block or LS swap is where its at if you want to be a baller

Welcome.

"End of summer" is 09/2011? That gives you 4 months to read every performance thread here. You will be a 350Z performance guru by then.

Wow... you are a noob

NA - naturally aspirated (bolt on only power mods)

TT - twin turbo

ST - single turbo

LS - small block chevy LS motor swap

03/04 are missing a few features like the VDC (traction control, 009 trans) vs 05. 06 is a rev-up motor that was only available for that year, so mods are slightly harder to come by and not all parts are fully interchangable with other years. 06 and up have upgraded headlights vs the 03-05 models.

Read the sticky threads at the top of the sub forums to learn the basic. definately read the ones in the F/I forum and don't start a thread in there asking questions till you know what you're talking about... it is Sparta in there

Its like a whole different world in here, I'm used to pounding on noobs in F/I and now I help spoon feed them the basics

False

The only Z's that don't have traction control are base models.

Just out of curiosity OP; how old are you?

Thing is that 1 out of 10 "gonnaget a 350Z" members ever gets a 350Z. So I don't put much effort into this forum. Nothing personal.

My bad.. I didn't think the 03 had the option.

OP, if you are saving for the down payment you should pretty much forget the swap an F/I mods.
