Default anybody have experience with the HKS F-Con V Pro Unit

starting to do research on which FI system to go with in the spring. One of the options I'm considering is the Top Secret solution.. They apparently use the HKS F-Con V Pro unit in their setup.

wondering if anybody has had prior experience using this unit in a FI application. I understand it can be setup to be a piggy back system or a standalone unit so interested to hear how it was used and if it performed adequately. Also anything else that i should look out for is appreciated

thanks

I was told this didn't work in my car.

Is this new?

Hey Topics II so what is your new setup and you are back on the road?

Right On.

I wanted FCON back in Oct but it was a no go...

Topics,

are you going to set it up as a full standalone engine management unit? also I think the unit is able to have both ignition or fuel cutoff abilities at the rev limit.. wondering if you are going to change it from the stock fuel cutoff to an ignition cut-off..

Max this has been in the top secret car for almost a year from what I can tell. From looking at the specs this seems to be a great unit.. hopefully it can be setup to work properly with our engine.. I think moving entirely away from the stock ecu might be the most straight forward way of controlling the engine ultimately..

It is going to be trial and error with this system because not many people have used it here in the states. I bet if you call HKS USA they don't know much about it or how to use it. I looked into, but stayed away for the reason.

Well the dude here knows HKS perosnally and said it didn't work, EJ's tuner. I wanted it. It was 1300.00 I think he said get the wiring harness so you don't have to cut your factory wires it's a Universal kit but now 350z wiring harness right?

I can't say I didn't try it but wanted it so keep us posted

In Japan the P-FCON V PRO is more then likely the most widely used Fuel Management unit, it's simply outstanding. Problem being is finding a tuner in the US

are there instructions for it in english? if so, screw the tuner issue. I'll have a wideband O2 before I buy an ECU. I'll tune it myself. The only thing that would really stop me is if the software and instructions are not available in English.

azrael if you plan on getting it, I know an authorized HKS tuner, that lives in Santa Fe New Mexico. He can come tune it for you.

I'm not planning anything at the moment, but if/when I get an ECU, I intend to tune it myself with a wideband and a data logger. I don't really want to trust my engine's health to someone else. I know too many people who have paid a lot of money, only to have a poorly tuned car. If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself. Thanks for the offer though.

It is not user tunable...HKS does not and will not provide the end user with the software.

Yeah, i was told by my local tuner that to be able to gain access to the software, you need to pass an exam of some sort.
From where i come from, since there isnt anyone qualified, the people here just invite qualified people from Japan (at a cost mind you) to tune the F CON. Last year vice president of JUN, Susumu Koyama or something, himself came to tune some heavily modified cars (GT-R's, STi's, Silvias etc etc). In fact he's been here twice.
But then again the USA is a huge place. There's bound to be someone who can tune the beast.

like I said before, if you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself. If I can't tune it myself, I won't be going with an F CON. Oh well.
