Default Engine Startup After 2 Months of Hibernation

The Z has been in hibernation under a car cover in my car port for approximately the past 2 months. Houston Texas isn't quite known for it's cold winters. Maybe a day or 2 consecutive in the low 50's. Needless to say I procrastinated for 2 months in purchasing a new Yellow Top Optima for it. Today the new battery arrived and I plan on installing and firing up the Z. Anything I should take precaution about, being it hasn't been fired up in 2 months?

just a general visual check for any unwanted visitiors in the engine bay, check the fluids, but 2 months is not really that long you should be fine.

I wish there was a system where you could 'pre-lube' the engine before start-up with some sort of oil squirting system.

I hate the idea of starting a car when it hasn't been turned over in weeks. My Z shakes horribly for the first 10 seconds after ignition if it hasn't been turned-on in about 2 weeks.

yep, most of the engine's wear occurs on start-up. I'd hate the idea of starting a dry engine after 2 months.

There is... if you know what you are doing. Either disconnect the the sub harness for the coil packs or pull the fuse for the fuel pump in the fuse pack by the battery. The latter solution lets you crank the motor without fuel washout and it wont start without fuel.

The fuel option is a better idea as cass said. Crank it for like 30 seconds if it makes you feel better.

This is what I was thinking would happen. It was a warm day when I started it, low 70's. It started up on the 1st crank, and fast. Pressure was good and all fluids level.

My front passenger tire had a slow leak that depleated it completely. I had to find a crafty way to get my already lowered car up on a ramp, as to slide the jack under. Pulled the wheel off and aired it up down the street. Took her for a spin. Felt pretty good...

Good to see everything went fine. Hope you let it run for a few minutes before putting any load on it.

Is your Z at the same place you live or is it far away?

Edit: Re-read oyur first post to see it is at your place but under a cover. Yeah, I would run it every two weeks, max. Just let it run for 5 minutes.

Ive heard of people putting a table spoon of oil in each cyl before cranking over a new engine build...i would assume for the same reason your worried...Why not try that?

Regardless what you do i really dont think anything bad is goign to happen...people have been letting cars sit like that for years...never heard of problems as a result...

Wouldn't people making a new engine slather the pistons and rings in oil before install?
