Default New Flywheel = New CSC?

Hi All,

I have a 08 Z with the concentric type slave cylinder (CSC).

For those that want to skip the story of my situation, my question is:
If only the flywheel is being replaced, does the CSC need to be replaced as well?

Situation:

My tach needle had been bouncing when I shifted and when I got on the gas. I brought it up with Nissan and they've determined that the dual mass flywheel is faulty and will be replacing it under warranty. Since they'll be in there, I'm having them replace my clutch assembly, at my cost.

Their working on the car today and called to ask "do you want your slave replaced?" and mentioned that "the existing CSC can be reused". I said "yes" to replacing the CSC, but I recall reading here on the forum and in the FSM that the CSC needs to be replaced whenever the clutch and flywheel are removed/replaced. Which got me thinking if they knew what parts to order.

The following is from the FSM:
"If transmission assembly is removed from the vehicle, always replace CSC (Concentric Slave Cylinder) body and CSC tube"

Anyways, Nissan is looking to charge me for the new CSC, but I wanted to check with you guys if this sounds okay or if it should be covered under warranty as well, since I'm not mechanically knowledgeable in this area.

I guess the confusion in my head is if the CSC needs to be replaced only when replacing the clutch, or that it doesn't matter, both clutch and flywheel needs CSC replacing.

The CSC won't come in till this Friday, so I have till then to mention something, if need be.

As a side note, I'm not upgrading my flywheel or my clutch as I'd rather keep things stock until the powertrain warranty expires. So I'm keeping the HD slave out, for now.

Any input is appreciated.

The reasoning from the dealer for not covering this under warranty is that my car has low miles (11,500) and that the CSC is under the 3 year warranty, not the drivetrain. Isn't the CSC under the drivetrain?? The CSC is located inside the trans and is a part of the clutch/flywheel assembly (which is covered under the drivetrain).

I also recall Joe from ZSpeed Performance mention that the CSC may not need to be replaced, if not many miles were put on. Given the amount of miles I have on my Z, does this apply?

Anyways, bump for feedback.

If they are in there I would have them replace the CSC. The oem CSC Is such a pile I would honestly suggest getting a zspeed HD unit overnighted to have them install. Oem parts are almost the same price, but the FSM states you have to replace it when pulling the transmission.

If you wanna hang with oem CSC, show them the FSM and tell them they have to replace it under warranty when replacing flywheel

Thanks ian99rt. Actually, I did show them the wording in the manual prior to receiving their feedback. Their standing by their statement that I have too few miles for them to replace the CSC and that isn't not covered under the powertain warranty.

Even if I did have enough miles to warrant changing the CSC, why is it the owners burden to pay for the CSC if Nissan is replacing the flywheel under warranty, and this CSC needs to be replaced?

It's too late to overnight the HD slave. I'm getting my car back today. It's been sitting there for 4 days.
