Default Cusco RS Diff - Restack Configuration

I found conflicting configurations for the settings on the Cusco RS differential...

Here is one direct from Cusco (pressure ring is on right side of the stack):
http://www.cusco.co.jp/en/pdf/LSD%20Guide%20Final.pdf (page 9)

Here is another one - pressure ring is now in center of two stacks (http://gxxdriver.com/forums/engine-d...guration.html:

They look like the same amount of friction surfaces in both configs (8 per side)...but is one preferred over the other?

Forgot to mention I am setting at 80% hence the 8 per side.

Ok so maybe this will help, top config is the image from the manual posted at g35driver above (direct cut and paste) for 80%, the lower image I used paint to illustrate what the Cusco manual calls for 80%:

Seems like the same number of friction surfaces just stacked differently.

Any thoughts?

Not the same amount of friction surfaces between the configurations - think about it. The friction only occurs between a large plate and a small, and there is none between two adjacent plates of the same size. This is because all the small plates rotate with the inner gears, all at the same speed, while the large plates rotate with the axles, all at the same speed (each side separately, though, because each axle has a different speed).

Look at both configs, they both have the same number of friction surfaces just in different locations in each stack...two small and two large are doubled up...

Yes, I agree, and I don't think there will be a difference between the two setups shown in post #2. My explanation referred to the configs shown in post #1. Maybe Cusco can provide an answer, and maybe there is no difference?

Thx for the input, thats a good idea to email them. I already assembled it per the first configuration, but its easy enough to open up and restack.

I couldn't imagine one config being much more advantageous over the other but you know what they say about assumptions.
