Evap system removal
 

In all my years here about the only thing I have seen about EVAP is relocation for exhaust installs.

Has anyone actually removed the canister ? If it's removed, do you plug or leave the lines open? I have a feeling that it will throw a code, can anyone confirm that the proper code can be turned off with UpRev ? I like to have a functional CeL incase a real problem actually comes up.

There were definitely a couple threads about removing it, at least at one time there were. I considered it a few years back. I'll see if I still have those threads saved.

It would definitely throw a code, but I have no information on Uprev being able to turn it off. Second thread, Hal from Dynosty says the code can be turned off with flash.

From looking around, it seems like the code thrown is a stand alone for the evap system and won't effect others...so you should be good to just turn it off in UPREV.

I have removed on other cars but not a specifically z.
The evap system is designed to filter the air from inside the fuel tank. As the fuel expands, gets used, or you fill the tank up air must enter or exit the tank due to changed volume of fuel. The evap is a filter system for this fuel vapor air.

The tank must be vented to open air you cannot plug up the vent or the tank could potentially rupture. I would not recommend venting inside the cabin.

With a proper vent tube the evap can be removed.

Hmmm what to do now. It's only a pound or two and I still need to pass smog. Doesn't look like I would pass with turning off the light via UpRev

reflash turns the SRT to not available, so the emissions machine doesnt think your car even has an evap setup.

You will fail emissions if you remove the evap system. If you turn off the code it will just be flagged "not ready." Your allowed 1 monitor to be flagged "not ready." In the summer, especially in Vegas your car will smell like raw fuel if you like that kind of thing. If they actually do a visual check you will fail also.

my car doesnt smell like raw fuel anytime of the year. Do you have a EVap delete, or are you just regurgitating other posts?

With it disco'd sitting in the garage right now, I have no extra smell. I'm going to drive it a little before I bolt everything back up.

If you turn the codes off with uprev it reads not supported or not applicable and the car will pass inspection as if it never came with the system you have turned off.

I have turned off 02 and CAT codes in Uprev and it went through emissions just fine.

Coming back to the EVAP system...I just notice that my modified upper manifold doesnt have the evap port on the back of the manifold neck...Thinking about the sysmtem, I think the system, I don´t really know whtat the rubber vacuum hose that runs between the intake manifold and the EVAP control solenoid valve does? Is it vacuum?? or is just the vapors going in to the intake?

Terramsmak, Did you remove the enterie system at the end, What happens If I left that rubber hose vented in to the atmosfhere o I just blank the hose?

I hope you can help with this...
