There are cogged sensor rings on each axle. There is a sensor that measures the speed that each axle turns at. This gives data for speed, TCS function, ABS function, and VDC function.

Cool, so has it been tested to see which gear would go best with the auto trans? I'm not worried about going 200mph, I want a very quick 1/4 mile, but still be able to drive daily. Like how about the manual ring and pinion with the auto trans??

I have been wanting to trade rear ends with an auto forever now. Which trim do you have?

Fly By, thought you were going with nitrous? Why would you want to lower your gearing?

The manual has 3.53, going to 3.35 will be higher gearing and will help lessen wheel spin and provide a higher top speed when the power is available to utilize the gearing. Not to mention the sightly better mileage and less wear on the motor. Higher number = lower gear. I want higher rear end gears for these reasons.

If you're ever in California, I'll take your offer. I have the Touring with limited slip. We can get it done here at Jeff's Performance Nissan, live right next to them.

Although I used the wrong word, I already understood the concept :P The reason I asked was because with a SC/Turbo it's always on...I guess you could lower boost, but with nitrous it's either on or off. So if you made your gearing higher, it's in effect going to slow you down off the line when you're not using nitrous right? Or just for plain daily driving... So what I'm asking is, what does wheel spin matter if hp numbers are only say 30hp higher than a stock car (when not using nitrous, and I say 30hp assuming that's what all your future bolt-ons will add)? All you need is stickier tires right? my thoughts are kind of disjuncted, so I apologize if this is hard to read..

Why would I care about how hard I can launch if I am not racing? And, why would I get into a race and not spray? Which leads to, if I am in a race where I don't need to spray, the gearing is probably not going to be a factor. The car spins on stock power levels. You could use sticky race tires, but who changes tires every time they go drive around? It isn't about racing for me anyways.

As long as you have the LSD and 3.35 gears and the swap is doable, I will def. switch with you. By changing gears (easier to swap the rear ends) you will have better throttle response and faster acceleration. It all depends on what you are looking for from your car. I want to have the gearing to be able to run to 190+ and the power to do it. There will not be a HUGE difference, but there will be some difference. I can call to see how much the swap will be and let you know if you want. We can go to SA some Thursday and get the work done Friday. It is worth the trip for the price we will pay, trust me.

hehehe :P Good points! WELL, I meant stickier tires (but still daily drivers), not necessarily tires for just the track. And if you're not racing I guess you wouldn't care about launching. Personally I would though. The car is still fun to launch/race around even if you're not spraying. That's the only reason I mentioned it. I don't know why I'm persuing this...your car is going to be hella fast anyways :P

Hmm, any thoughts on a manual Z?? I would like gears that are higher (whatever) to get better gas mileage, less wheelspin and such. Is there a solution to this problem yet??
