Default Baseline dyno runs....

I took my Base 6-speed 350Z up to 21st Century Musclecars in Carrollton Texas to get some Baseline numbers on my 350Z before I have the ATI Procharger installed this weekend. I have 2300 miles on the odometer. I've removed around 60 pounds from the car.

I have the following mods:

Power:

K&N air filter in box
Nismo exhaust

Suspension/wheels/tires etc:

Silver Volk LE37T 19x9.5 fronts and 19x10.5 rears, 245/35-19 (front) & 275/35-19 (rears)

Nismo sway bars

RS*R lowering springs

and some other cosmetic mods

Anyways, I only got two runs in...first one was in 4th gear, the second done correctly in 5th gear.

Second run: 231.1hp @ 225.8 pft SAE corrected (actual was 245.7hp & 237.2 pft). The torque curve is flat from 2500 rpm to around 5500 and doesn't drop below 200 ft pounds until 6100 or so.

This seems low considering 12-15% drivetrain loss. That equates to around 270hp @ the crank. "Actual" horsepower was actually 287hp exactly figuring around 13% loss.

I'd like to know what other owners have seen from there basically stock 350Zs....

If someone would like to host my dynosheet, let me know and I'll scan it....

James

Not for sure, but I'd bet those larger wheels are throwing your dyno a bit short. With my stock wheels and tires I ran a 241.6rwhp / 236.9 pft baseline dyno. If your wheels and tires are taller than the stock setup...that's where it'll be.
Just a thought...

I guess I should have dynoed with stock rollers, but to be honest, the front wheel/tire I have now are 4 pounds lighter. The rears are 3 pounds heavier (mostly the tire). I'm not sure how changing the final drive would effect the dyno much as far as diameter.

It could be the wheels and tires, but.... I noticed the A/F is way on the lean side, even for a NA car... around 12.8-12.9 to 3500 rpm..but then by 4000 rpm it is at or above 14.2 all the way to 5700 rpm... then tapers down to 13.8 at 6000 rpm and finally down to 13.3 at redline... I'm wondering what would happen to the power curve with some extra fuel being added...

Even the dyno operator thought this was very high (but they are mainly used to seeing LS1 and LS6 V8 engines on this dyno).

Here's mine so you'll have a compare.. I wish I had the files from this run to send you, but at this shop the floppy drive was out so he couldn't save them .

Boy, our air/fuel curves look wickedly different

How many miles were on your car when you dynoed? Maybe I would pick up a few ponies after 5-6K miles or so...

BTW, thanks for the dyno sheet.

I had a Lingenfelter Magnusson Supercharged Z06 that had 1800 miles on it and dynoed 479hp and 405 pft.....

about 5000 miles later, 496hp and 428 pft...

Nothing more added than just the miles...heh.

Probably not going to see that kind of gain from a V6, but hey, maybe something.... :P

But as they say, every dyno is different. I should have tried Alamo Autosports dyno too. 21st Centuries dyno has always been kind of conservative when compared to other dynos around the DFW area. I know Speedworks dyno was alot more optimistic on other vehicles I owned, but I wanted my baseline to be honest..heh.

Have you tried Rotary Performance's Dyno in Garland?

Heavier rear wheels, tall tires, limited runs, and low miles. Dont worry your ok. You HAVE to run 4-5 times to get this car warmed up. 2 runs wont cut it.

Oh and you should figure 17% driveline loss in the 6MT Z.

Default stock dyno

Wow. These 2 dynos look quite a bit different.
The one from ZXiMan shows quite a lean A/F ratio, but that can just be from how they placed the measurement probe--not sure!

KJY's shows a very similar A/F ratio as many with some exhaust, cat and CAI mods. That's promising! Maybe our stock ECU can adapt easily enough for those basic mods without any changes.

Ummm the Dyno I posted was my baseline.
If that's all I got after all the mods I've thrown at this car I'd be pissed!

Yup. That's why it's promising for those with basic exhaust, cats and intake mods. Cars with those mods are showing the same A/F patterns as your stock dyno--and using the ECU without having to do a flash. I like that!
