Default Clutch issues.. help me out here

Ok so I've got an issue with my clutch. We were headed home one day and had to stop for a wreck on the road. When I put my clutch in, the car died... tried to restart it, and it acted like a dead battery. My clutch switch was bypassed and when I took my foot off and tried to start without the clutch, it fired right up like normal. Hit the clutch to put it in gear and it died again. I've got an RJM adjustable pedal mod, so I lenghted the stroke on the pedal and was able to keep it running, but the stop and go of the traffic from the wreck was just too much and we were starting to smell burning clutch after only 30 feet or so, so I called for a tow and had it brought home. At home it resumed the clutch killing the engine situation again. A few days later I went out to see if I could figure out anything on it. I used a (clean) soap dispenser pump to pull the fluid out of the resivoir and filled it back up, pumped the clutch for awhile and then repeated until the brake fluid was clear in there (it was so nasty when I started that you couldn't see through it at all). That made a difference as I could now put the clutch in and even shift gears without dying, but it was making this horrible noise (high pitched) when i did. Today i just went out and bled the system, but no change beyod what i got so far. I do feel it could be important to note that when I bled it, the bleeder dribbled constantly, not just when the clutch was depressed, so I just let it while periodically adding brake fluid to the top when it got a little low....

I am no mechanic other than by nessisity, so I've only tried what I know or could find online... from what I can tell, changing the fluid changed the situation, so my problem is in the hydraulics somewhere right? I couldn't find any fluid leaking, so I don't think is fitting or lines, but I accept that I could be all wrong.

I think I have a bad master or slave cylinder, but I'm open to anyone who has a more educated guess. My question if you think I'm right, is how do I tell which one?
