Have you tried cleaning your MAFS, OP? They could be just dirty and sending inaccurate air volume readings to your ECU/ECM..

Cause it’s a rip.

We did that for my friends 350z and they charged him $100 to run the test to find why his car wouldn’t leave limp mode. All they did was run the OBd II scan and then give him a guess to what it could be. Oh injectors, vac leak, spark plugs, ect ect.

After we told them I personally checked everything on their suggested list they shrugged their shouldered and said we could do a full check for another $300...

Said screw it and finally found on our own he had a failed cat fully blocking one exhaust bank. They’re called stealerships for a reason.

Not to mention the only kids who end up a dealerships around me are usually the kids who could hardly pass auto shop.

i guess i say it because i still have warranty....

PDose 04-12-2018 06:13 AM

When I had the idle relearn issue the dealership wanted me to throw 5k of parts on my car, none of which were used to finally fix it. I asked them if it would fix it and they said eh if it doesn't we have ruled those parts out... If I had a warranty I would probably use the dealership more haha. Depending on how long he has been running the car it may not relearn due to buildup in the cats, I didn't technically blow my cats out. But driving to and from mechanics and dealerships trying to figure it out, I had carbon buildup in my cats. If I'm not mistaken the cats have to be in perfect order for the relearn to work.

You have warranty on a 10yr old vehicle?
When I had idle issues I went to 4 dealerships and a specialist shop Real Auto Dynamics. Nobody has a clue and $$ just wasted. New throttle bodies, ECM, Maf Sensors nothing worked.

PDose 04-12-2018 06:33 AM

What did you finally get to fix your idle issue? I know the feeling, I went in saying it was either the throotle bodies or the ecm, and wasted three k listening to techs who didn't believe it was the ecm. Then I went and installed the ecm myself and fixed it.

Trav is rich and got that lifetime vette warranty. Downside is you become fat, bald and old to meet their old man criteria ;)

The car was never fixed. The surging and bogging doesn't bother me anymore. Unfortunately I've gotten used to it. This is the last Nissan vehicle I'll ever buy. I've owned this vehicle from new and my problems began at 30k miles.

yessir for now anyway... bought it 3 years ago with just 9980 miles on it and the warranty of 5 yr 50k miles

(speaking of which, just emailed them for a new quote since mine is about to run out)

travlee 04-12-2018 12:01 PM

kham, in case you are wondering ... gm offers the GMEPP, which is a gm authorized extended warranty. just got this back from them. pretty reasonable

Just remembered another cheap fix. have you checked the sensors in your cats, if they have gone bad the z won't do the idle relearn

Trades2much 04-13-2018 10:53 AM

So wait a minute,,, are we talking idle issues on a 350z or warranties for a corvette??

Trades2much 04-13-2018 10:57 AM

Pdose. According to All PIDS the O2 sensors are in check. It is hard to get a stable reading because the engine is racing up and down. Just for shits and giggles I will unplug a throttle body so it idles then monitor all the O2 sensors to verify. What gets me is there isn’t even any codes set, I would think it would get some sort of idle codes?

Trades2much 04-13-2018 11:02 AM

I am absolutely stumped. I’ve never went this deep and not found a problem. Still wondering about the ECM, 2 shops would not reflash as they claimed that since I’m getting communication then the ecm is fine, plus the fact that the throttles work perfect except won’t stable idle then that means the driver in the ecm is not burnt. Makes sense and the reprogramming Shop did confirm that my ecm has the latest update and cannot be written over. When they hook up to it does their computer verify that mine is working as it’s supposed to??

HAHA

Gotcha I know I had the same problem, I went back and forth from multiple shops thinking it was the ecm. But every tech I talked to said now the ecm was fine. The thing that stumps me with yours is how the ecm would of been fried? I know how and when i fried mine haha. I can't say what they are able to pull up, but I doubt it from my experience.

PDose 04-13-2018 01:59 PM

I just realized something that may really help you out, there’s a guy who runs a ecm repair company in Colorado. You send it to him and he will be able to tell you if it’s bad for sure. Or if he can he’ll repair it and send it back. I’m gonna have to dig out the number or touch base with my mechanic on Monday. Only question is, is this your dd?

Trades2much 04-13-2018 05:33 PM

it is just a spare car, I don’t know how changing the battery can fry it.
