350z 2004 115k IPDM exposed to moisture
Yesterday, in DC, I was driving my car in heavy rain/downpour. This morning, as I was getting ready to go to work, but my car would not start. I placed the key into the ON position and the lights on the dashboard and headlights turned on and there was a low humming noise coming from the engine. So my mechanic stopped by to troubleshoot the issue. He ran the car diagnostic tool and the scanner indicated that there was an error with the IPDM. The IPDM was exposed to moisture. I call the dealer and they want $700 dollars. I couldn't deal with the issue this morning since I had to get to work. I recently came home and I was able to start my car, but I have a check engine light on. Also, I wanted to add that after driving my car in heavy rain, the next day something is wrong with my car. The last time I drove in heavy rain, my car wouldnt start and I had to replace the battery. I think of never driving my car in heavy rain again.
My question is:
Should I go with a brand new IPDM board or would a used board suffice?
Also, would it be safe to drive my car now even though the check engine light is on?
Thanks in advance for your help!

If it's driving fine then sure, but you didn't tell us the code.
I had a factory amp halfway submerged in water in my DD for who knows how long and the factory speakers would make very loud noises that I couldn't even turn the radio on. Once it dried it still worked.

I ordered a used IPDM board. Once my mechanic replaces the board, I will have him run the diagnostic scanner. I am hoping this resolves my issue.
