in all seriousness though if you want the best numbers off the line and 0-60 get a set of slicks for the rear and racing wheels, should cut at least a 1/2 sec of your et!

For $1000?

- Bieffe helmet ($200-300)
- StopTech Stainless Steel Brake lines ($170)
- Motul brake fluid ($30)
- 1 or 2 sets of brake pads ($150 each).

With the rest of the money, take the car to a road course, I guarantee it will be more fun than any other mod you can buy.

I'm sure the street racing fanboys will disagree, but.. to each his own.

Great answers but probably not good enough until we find out what he enjoys best. Some people are 1/4 freaks, others are road race, others like cruising heck some might just change the aesthetics of the car... IT comes down to what you want out of the 1K that you have..? Do you want more power, better handling, better braking, etc... Or everything (KINDA HARD WITH ONLY 1K) these are things that you have to provide for us to give you a better and more detailed answer.

not a bad answer, but dont forget 6-700 for a new set of tires. you will tear them up. also the somewhat large risk of crashing on a road course. minimize the crashing risk by doing autocross(no one ever totalled their car from a road cone) but then doublt the tire price, as youll only get 4 or 5 days on a set of tires.

Well it just hit me today. Ive never really raced someone seriously yet. But this souped up Jetta :-/ was riding my *** and then we were racing through traffic for about 20min. I guess im looking for something I get get the most out of from just hitting the gas and taking off. Does that make sense? I am so utterly new to mods so any help would be great.

Id suggest the pulley/plenum/cat combo as well for that. but then it comes time to decide if you want to go kinetix or crawford.

another possiblity if your wanting sound, get an exhaust, they can be had for 800 easily. couple it with a pop charger should sound nice for 1000, but the other combo would probably yeild more power... maybe; itd be close

at the autocross(Run by the M club i believe) by my house @ the meadowlands a friend of mine claims an E46 spun out of control, hit a curb, and rolled in front of his eyes awhile back...I'm sure it could be found online if it really happened, but I'm too lazy to look right now, sucks for that guy.

guess thats possible, ideally they set up the course no never have you pointed at a curb or light post. if you loose controll in a turn you should just slide harmlessly through the course.

combine that with alot of turns and limited straight aways and itd be tough to get over 60mph.

but not that its impossible. but Im sure less cars have crashed in a parking lot than a track. ask Jtree
