UR crank pulley belts
I'm considering getting the UR crank pulley and was wondering which belt is better - Gates belt or Nissan belt?
If you have either one please post your experiences with them.
BTW, if you got your pulley from Concept Z Performance you got a Nissan belt. I believe most other vendors use a Gates belt.
Thanks---

For the most part, a belt is a belt...we're not talking gaskets here.
That said, I'm sure both are fine. I have Gates on mine, no problems whatsoever.
I'd imagine the nissan are more expensive...not sure tho.

Just would like to make sure of the correct belt to use the first time around.

I wasn't aware of one type of belt being too long...but yeah, that would cause squeeking. I went with the Gates belt because that's what UR reccomends. It cost me like $30 for both. I put on the full pulley set...not sure if you need both for just the crank.

Also, do I need a special tool to install the belts?

I went ot pep boys and got belts there. I think they were Goodyear belts, but I am not certain. The stretched a little and started squealing on start up, but I tightened them and they are fine.
Ther eis no special tool to take the belts on and off. It is actually a pretty smart system down there. All you need is a 14mm ratchet to loosen the pulley, and a 12mm to adjust the belt, then tighten the 14mm on the pulley to finish it up.
