Sounds like a fast ticking sound, but if you push the clutch in while its idling it goes away.

Is this normal? I also hear a clunking sound like metal when i go over a bump or brake hard enough.

any replies would be appreciated.

sounds like throwout bearing noise, how many miles do you have on your car?

 

I had this noise on my car and then I got the tranny replaced at 16K miles. It went away and now I notice it is back at 21K miles. It is the throwout bearing. I think that it is strange that it is making noise already!!!

 

mine started up again 3k miles after i replaced tranny and clutch/flywheel assy

 

I have a preorder Z that I got in Aug 2002, i now have 26K miles on my car and have had this noise the whole time, but seems to recently gotten a little louder. Have no problems with my tranny as of yet (knocking on wood)!

 

I bought my car used with 24.5k, now i have 24.8k on it.
