Default What oil is everyone running?

I am getting close to the 3000 mile mark on my Z and was going to change to a synthetic oil, but was curious...what is everyone else was running and how do they like it?

I was thinking about running Royal Purple, but thought I would get some opinions first. Mobil 1 is just so damn expensive! Any thoughts are appreciated!

Do a search. Been discussed several times. I run mobil1 syn and change every 4k. 350z isnt really a cheap car, so I dont mind spending money on the oil.

MOBIL 1 i change @ ~ every 3750 though sometims its more like 4500 in between. manual says every 3750 but with synthetic so long as you change the filter you could change it every 9k and not harm anything

Default RP?

Well, I tired searching, but only about 5% of the topics I got in my search were pertinent to what I am asking.

So nobody has tried Royal Purple? It's what most of the NHRA runs. Actually, it's used in a bunch of different race classes. I guess the flipside to that is, so are a lot of other oils too

I wanted to give it a go but wanted to know if anyone else was running it.

if you want really high quality synthetic run amsoil. just change the filters and its supposed to last a very long time without breaking down. some say you would never need to change it, just the filter, while others say it lasts about 15k miles

btw this stuff runs ~15/quart

won't you void your warranty for using synthetic?

Only if your dealer is a *****. My first change was at 1500 miles to Mobil 1 5-30 at my Infiniti/Nissan dealer for $45.00.

if they void your warranty for using synthetic they are really stupid. you really dont need syn unless you beat on your engine a lot, or you have a turbo. but since my last car had a turbo i have gotten in the habit of only using syn

[I use Amsoil 5W30 full synthetic. It's done the best I've seen in comparion tests and with Blackstone Labs results. Not a huge difference between Amsoil and other quality synth lube, though.

Mobil 1 5w-30 every 3500

Kind of a similar question but when your car is warmed up at idle what does your oil PSI gauge read?

I'm using Mobil 1 SuperSyn also. Is there a difference between the "new car" formula and the "high performace driving" formula? I went to buy the 5 quart bottles and noticed the two kinds. I went with the "new car/engine" one, but the "high performance driving" Mobil 1 Syn has me curious.

I use royal purple. I don't use Mobil 1 because it breaks down to quickly at high temps. Royal Purple holds up even after two race days before I have to change it. Even then its stills leaves a clingy slick film behind. When I used Mobil one, once it breaks down it was almost like water and the film didn't cling very well.
