Default Update Jason?

Jason,

I am still considering this part, but wanted some more feedback.
11/24/04 you were saying someone was going to inspect and fix the problem.

Was just wondering what has happened and is your problem isolated and/or fixed.?

There also is another thread where the guy said he his shifter and never mentioned any problems.

Just wanted to get as much info as I could before making a decision.

thanks

The reason you are having the problem is because you didn't install it right. You must of not installed the guide plate correctly. I set-up my guide plate so that you can't miss any gear no matter how far you move it over left or right. From all the people I know that have installed this, including myself, you are the only person having these problems. If I were you, I would reintall it again and double check everything. Also go through the gears after you install the guide plate to make sure you are going through the gears smoothly.

Just get the B&M short shifter and be done with it ! 33% is the perfect amount of throw reduction. Im sure with the nismo shifter once you set it at 40% you would probably just leave it there. What good are the other positions ? I always want to be in race mode. Its also more fun to drive with the short throw.

I feel 40% reduction might be a bit much, which would explain the force issues; too stiff. Read my review in this forum on the B&M.

No actually the 40% setting to me feels PERFECT. And the other settings are good for those of us who have spouses that drive their cars from time to time. My wife would HATE to drive my car on max short. And also some people just dont want the throws that short and can run it at the next longer setting.

I have mine at stock position right now. It is the same as stock height, but the shifts are much smoother. When I race or go to the track, I drop it down to 40%. It is an awesome shifter. I am telling you. If anyone in your area that has one will let you try it, you will see how amazing it is. It is worth the cash.

Nothing like reviving a 5-year old thread, but I just installed one of the Nismo adjustable short shifters last night in my '08. Simple install, no vibrations, easy to adjust, and in short (no pun intended) no problems or issues. At the -40% setting effort is increased, but if you've ever taken a high school physics class, you'll easily understand why. I couldn't believe all the misinformation posted to this thread, especially by the OP, but rest assured you can change the length of either end of the fulcrum, or change the pivot point, and the math is still the same. I'll have to wait and see how this part holds up, but for now all I can say is that I wish I'd installed it sooner.

Take things apart and have a look. Might be the bushing between the shifter and the linkage, or it could be the ball and socket in the middle of the shifter, or something else. I've had mine installed for ~3.5 years, and it's still good as new.

I have played with it so many times.... It looks like it rattles at the slider\adjustment point. If I hold it down with my hand or push the shifter down it stops rattles. I checked everything according to the manual... I am at the point to go back to original shifter now

Maybe once you've got the shifter off the car it will become obvious where the rattle is coming from.
