Good news! My engine shipped out before the disaster. So rb26 project is still on way.

Don't want to leave you guys hanging, project is still underway yet it is getting closer to completion. Ran into a few snags, but it is going to be seen through to completion! Few pics of progress...

If I switched to AWD that would be nuts, but I might as well have a GTR by the time a do all that! I have enough for a healthy down payment on a brand new one as much as I spent so far... I have seen one on youtube that did the AWD setup, simply awesome. I plan to drift/ auto-X/ track it so the RWD setup should be pretty fun. I am about to order a good diff today, thinking of KAAZ, Quaife, or Cusco, any reommendations for about 600hp? leaning towards Kaaz and cusco, I need a good lock!

Haha, its funny, I was actually discussing this topic (RB26DETT in a 350z) with my friend the other day...he has a 300ZX TT that he is going to restore, maybe I should propose your idea to him

RB26 in a 300zx is perfect because the 300zx tranny bolts in perfectly with a RB25 housing. That's the setup I am going with, RB25 bell housing coupled to 300zx tranny.

on sticking with the project! Going to be super cool, man.

...however, my brain started to hurt when I crunched the rough numbers of $14k on the built VQ...and another expected $15-20k on the RB...not sure how much you're getting/got for the VQ, but seems like the value of your car + all the costs of the RB swap would = me going Supra shopping.

Again, I LOVE a unique set up...but hell, you said it yourself...guys are running 600hp on a stock block in a turbo supra. Blah blah, Z is newer, it's unique, it's lighter (maybe? i dunno), etc etc etc. I'd have a friggin Supra.

Rant complete. Jealousy maxed. Good luck!

Lol, RENFRO I love it. AFTER I got started on this project and was beyond the point of turning back I have to admit, I kicked myself in the butt because of all the dinero I've spent, heck I could have paid half of a GTR and kept my monthly payments reasonable to what I have now! :-/ I guess you lice and learn and now I just hope for the best. I just HOPE that after this is all done it was well worth the time, effort, and cash spent. Thanks for the rant, I need it! :-)

Totally feel ya bud...but daaaayuuummm that thing is gonna sound sick. To me, there's nothing better than a mean sounding RB or 2JZGTE. Probably my 2 favorite engines. Keep us updated.
