Exhaust Cam Stuck? (2JZ)
So I'm getting to changing cam seals timing belt water pump and so on but when I took off the timing belt the exhaust cam seemed to be stuck. I tried turning it by the gear and it took a lot of force but it didn't move much maybe 30-45 degrees (Yes I'm at TDC). From my understanding I'm pretty sure they're suppose to move freely within a certain range correct? because the intake side moves just fine. I took off the cover to see if the caps were just too tight, loosened all of them and still seems to be stuck. If you guys could help me figure out what could cause this that would be greatly appreciated, thanks. The picture of the cam I put up to me seems like the problem it looks like the lobe to the far right and the one right after that (to the right) are hitting the shims (if thats to correct term)
So actually looking at it closer those two lobes are touching the shims and when I turn the cam they move up and down. Is this normal or should the shims be replaced to give more clearance?
