right on! I was able to purchase most of this stuff ahead of time but you forget one thing and it stops the train. I also live about 25minutes away from the closest autoparts so I tried to get everything I needed up-front.
Great overall progress - cant wait to see more! what did you set your oil bearing clearances at? |

Great overall progress - cant wait to see more! what did you set your oil bearing clearances at? Bearing clearances are factory spec the crank was micro polished. The block was in mint condition, didn't even need a rebuild. For reliablity purposes I wanted a forged block, because the vvti rods are known to give out at about 600hp. |
I'm just curious - what's factory spec on your block?
I ran mine down to .003" as it's rumored this is (strangely enough) what big number supra guys do. member TCode also advised between addition heat expansion and flex it's wise to get closer to the top end. Subsequently, going to a 40 weight oil. |

Some more progress, while waiting for the head gasket

So some progress test fitting the manifolds checking clearances etc... while I wait for the head gasket to come in.
There will also be another delay on the build as I think I am going to get some Brian crower springs and retainers, because I have to do the valve stem seals anyways. Just Fyi I updated the first post of the parts needed to complete the swap, that I am still missing. The snow ball effect is a real thing. :P https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....aa21627438.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....5fabc7c65a.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....1b19edf00e.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....de43b83373.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/my350z....1502e58324.jpg |

Picked up some brand new aem cam gears for dirt cheap off craigslist

A quick update, ordered brian crower springs and steel retainers with lock keepers. The final item needed to seal the head gasket.
|
Springs are shipped out today. Hoping to finish the engine before the end of the month. So my plan is to start the swap in November sometime. I am speaking with spectrum performance to spec out a turbo for my build. Should have that in November at some point.

Valve stem seals, springs, retainers, lock keeps installed. That was not a fun job, so tedious and frusterating. Onto the head gasket next.

Hey gasket installed, with arp studs. Minor set back need to do a valve adjustment on a couple of the valves. Measured them and a couple are too tight or too loose.
