___SKUNK2 Mega Power Catback | Authorized Dealer/Wholeseller ____
Would you guys believe it actually took me almost a month to put 200 miles on the clock? My Z is not a daily driver. On top of being hopelessly busy at work and at home, and having bad weather to contend with. I guess I should be considered lucky to have been able to drive it at all. After 200+ miles, I think the ECU is probably mostly, if not completely done with its adjustments.
THMotorsports was a good seller. Shipping was quick considering the size and weight, and my phone contact with them was pleasant. My only one negative would be a typo in the online payment transaction resulted in me being over charged approximately $0.45! But if this was the worst they could do, I'm fine with it. Call it a gratuity for the courteous service, which is rare from internet businesses as far as I can tell.
First of all, like most people have said before: The removal of the stock exhaust is much more of a pain than the install of the new system. This is even more true when you work off of ramps like I did. A breaker bar, PB Blaster, and a helper/buddy will save you a good deal of time.
The install was much faster, and the fitment of the Mega Power was really good. I didn't have to do any adjusting after tightening all the bolts down at the install. And after 200 miles, it didn't shift anywhere for me to have to adjust it now.
The sound from this system was not too loud at all. It's louder and deeper overall, but pretty tame at idle and light or moderate throttle. High RPM's or hard throttle inputs will make it yell a bit more. It's really hard to explain exhaust sounds to much detail. I can say I am really happy with the volume and tone. You can hear pulses that give it a rougher sound. I don't know if an addition of an X or H pipe would eliminate the pulse or not. Keep in mind that my Z is stock except for the Motordyne 5/16", and this exhaust. If you have headers, high flow cats or other intake/exhaust modifications, you will have a different sounding car, period.
One thing I could complain about would be the same complaint I'd have for all exhaust systems that are available for the Z (except for the APS 2.5"): No option to mount the stock muffler's air diffuser. I think it was a great touch for Nissan to incorporate that piece on the stock exhaust, but even the Nismo doesn't have a place to mount it. It really wouldn't be very hard for the aftermarket companies to retain this part as long as they still used a horizontal muffler placement like this system did.
Power-wise, I can't say a lot about it. This car was not dyno'd before or after, so I can't make any scientific claims. If you plan on doing this type of testing, many people will be excited to see your results, including me. My car did feel like it responded to throttle inputs quicker. On top of throttle response, the RPM's seemed to want to climb a hair faster. I basically expected this much for going from single to dual exhaust. Don't expect a huge gain in RWHP though. If you do some research you'll see the exhaust isn't known to be a big gainer for Z's. Bang for the buck awards will never be given to exhaust systems as far as Z's are concerned.
One thing going for this exhaust system is the value. The build quality was there with out the $1000+ price tag everybody else seemed to want. I think most people who end up with this exhaust from THMotorsports will be very satisfied.
I can still do pictures, but the car is filthy right now and I don't like to show it off at it is.

The reason there is no connecter pipe between the left and right sides is to allow both sides to flex independently. If the two sides are welded together with a brace of some sort, as the pipes vibrate and shift under the car, that brace will be stressed and in time break.
The hangers for that exhaust are more than sufficient to keep the exhaust fixed in place and therefore no bracing was required.
