Question:

If I buy a stage 1 shortblock, can I just bolt on my existing heads with new gaskets and studs or do I need to get the heads redecked first? The engine has about 45k on it and is running great.

 

We have a lot of engines being built currently, 3 weeks would be a good estimate.






You need to check them (or have them checked) for flatness on the deck mating surface. If they are out of spec you will have to have them machined.

 

Would a granite table and a dial indicator do the job? Sorry - obviously I need to do some research!

 

A straight edge and feeler gauges would be better
