Default Removing splash guards?

Picked up my new '05 ultra yellow Enthusiast last weekend after 11 years with a '91 300ZX TT.

Interesting change!

The 350Z came with the splash guards, which I think detract from the car's lines.

Is removing the guards simply a matter of removing the screws? Or did they also use some sort of glue/cement to attache them?

TIA for any advice on this.

well i would say just remove the screws.....and then have some small fishing wire or dental floss, and a blow dryer, handy.

All you do is heat up the area that is glued and use the fishing wire to cut through the glue.

Then get some goo-gone from walmart or sumtin if you have trouble with the left over residue.

Just get it off soon, or else the edge of the spash guard will begin to wear down your bumper and side skirt's paint.

Yeah, that was my thought... sooner = better. Wanna maintain that showroom look as long as possible.

Big internal debate over this, but I think I'm going to go for the ultra-clean look to begin with -- no flaps or spoilers, just a new set of wheels. Maybe Nismos. Or if I can find a set of the Track rims.

OTOH I may wake up tomorrow & decide I can't live without some over-the-top body kit & huge wheels with spinners!!!

See from your gallery that you did just that. I like the look!

Thanks for the suggestion. It's an option I hadn't considered...

Word! That's exactly what I did. The front ones actually flow with the car. The rears do not. I took those suckers off the day after I took delivery.

I only have the front splash guards. I previously owned a 1990 300ZX and the paint on the front fenders wore down to the primer from the impact with road debris.

If you are going to get aftermarket wheels, I highly recommend keeping the fronts on. I have 19x9 in the front and wanted the protection. Something to think about...

your comment is retarded....just because someone has different taste than you does not warrant a stupid statement like that. i think it does flow better without the rears....even better if your dropped down

Lose 'em both.....afterthought pieces don't belong on such a well designed car. You don't see such eyesores on Porsches or Ferraris. I think they really cheapen the look of the car.

Thx to all for the replies. Big help in deciding which way to go.

For now, I've removed the rear guards and kept the fronts. Definitely an improvement IMHO.

Once I replace the OEM rims, I may lose the fronts as well. Depends on how all the pieces look together.
