The G35 guy had to use about 3-4 layers of film on his stereo to shift the color to blue and it ended up slightly dimmer than the rest of his LEDs.
Edit:Here's an excerpt: i'm think i'm just going to put the regular bulbs back then plaster on the blue film on the back of the gauges.. then it'll be nice and even. oh yeah and i gotta finish the door switch lights.. then i'll be done... FINALLY....
anyways for the A.c display i just dremeled out the center part of the orange cover then i hot glued 3 layers of blue film on top of it.. and reinstalled everything.. i was afraid it wouldn't turn out good but being the guinnee pig it turned out better than expected... check out the pix.. sorry this time i didn't take pictures of the process..
He just used blue film. Here are pics:

Here's the original thread, but they are mostly just comments.

the display on LCD itself is SUPER BRIGHT once the cover is off. When you put a blue film (3 layers on mine to be exact) it shines through a deep blue. if you have regular bulbs behind it, it's sky blue. As for the gauges.. I believe I saw on 350ZTwinTurbo pictures of the gauges (taken apart) that there was a orange film behind teh gauges. see below...
here's some of the film sanded off on my g35 gauges

hey 350ztwinturbo in that picture you took, is the film on the backside surface or is it on the front side surface? i can't really tell from the pictures.
good to see everything came together nicely though! looks great!

Hey guys im new over here but i thought id share what I know about gauge lighting. You can acetone off the orange gel's (test in inconspicious area) and do whatever color LED's you want. Im doing this for my friend who owns a Z. Ive done it on my civic SI

This is a total custom setup, i replaced 6 incandecent bulbs with like 70 LEDs. Lots of math and resistors going on here. Anyway the Z looks like a straight swap so ill let ya know how it turns out.
I orginally had em done in all blue but i tired of that and went for the lexus look

kick *** job man. did you use 3mm or 5mm LEDs? also, the problem i found with these gauges is the same layer that gives you the amber film is the same layer that gives the numbers the definition. the opaque layer looks like it is part of the amber layer. you can try it, but i think both will come off. i would have done blue a long long time ago if i could have figured this out.
Also, wouldn't it be possible to take some ORACAL 8300 red vinyl and apply it to the back of the gauges? it's transparent vinyl, light output would decrease a bit, but it would shine through red, no? I think this would work and be far easier than facking with all the soldering and such. tell me if i'm missing something though...

I'm actually changing it all over to blue this weekend. Keep a look out for a new thread with pics.
hey old s13, are those prices from clear corners.com just for the labor to convert the whole headlamp into LED and matte black or is that just to purchase the head lamp itself?
