Default Nismo Hatch Shocks

Alright I hate to admit it because I consider myself a "GOOD" mechanic but...

THOSE NISMO HOOD SHOCKS ARE KICKING MY AZZ!!!

So anyway I purchased some Nismo Shocks for the rear hatch today because I can't take it anymore. I am so tired of the damn thing falling on my head. I am afraid that one day will washing my car and drop the hatch and lose a finger!

The shocks did not come with new hardware to bolt the hatch and body of the car. After looking at them I assumed that the shocks just snap out of the ball sockets. I know there is a snap ring inside so I figured I would just tug on them and they would snap out... HELL NO!

So now I removed one of the shocks thinking it might be easier with it off the car... HELL NO!

LOL ok so to make a long story short has anybody replaced there Hatch Shocks? New hardware to mount the shocks might be needed. I am thinking there might be a tool like a small ball joint tool to help separate the shock from the mounting bracket.

SOB... I don't know why the hell those things have to be on there so tight... and honestly if I pay almost a $100 bucks a shock don't you think they should include hardware if it’s needed? If hardware is needed and I have to purchase the brackets I am going to be pissed... screw Nissan/Nismo and there greedy asses.

OK I feel better now, thanks for letting me vent...

I had these installed and from recollection, it comes in a kit with additional parts beyond just the shock. The whole thing was about $200. Sounds like you might be missing parts. Call Performance Nissan.

Wow I didn't know Nismo made shocks, this is something I may have to look into cause my hatch has been falling on my head lately, but 200 is quite a lot! Couldn't I find something at autozone to work? Can anyone post a picture of the shocks? Do they have the nismo logo on them?

Thanks

The shocks look like oem except the labeling. The difference is one is red while the other is blue. Forget which is which. When you press down on the oem when compared to the Nismo, the difference is very noticible. No more banged fingers or head for me.

Hey guys, same here, I had the Nissan HD shocks installed when I got my Nismo wing to keep the hatch from beaning me all the time. I opted for the heavier shocks because I didn't want to screw around with that counterweight thing. BTW, my hatch "pops up" without a problem with the heavier shocks.
Anyway, here is the Nissan part number - 90453-CD010
It is called a "back door stay".
