Default Could my CS be KY01 ?...HELP !

Getting kit install and paint on my '03 Chrome Silver Track. Spoke with my body shop yesterday and went to see my car. The paint code is KY0 of course and that is what paint they used (from Matrix System - good quality). The match is not great. There is a color difference noticeable so they got the Nissan paint keys and the guy from Matrix says it looks like my car was painted with KY01 which has a slight hint of gold compared to KY0. Is that possible ? I have a counter theory that my application of 12-15 coats of Maguires Gold Class wax oevr the years may have given my car a slight 'yellow' tint. The difference is slightly noticeable between the gas cap cover and the body. The gas cap cover has gotten little to zero wax over the years. Is that possible ? I am perplexed - any help greatly appreciated.

I have a 05 CS Z, and I have noticed that from some angles there is a tint to the paint. This color is probably a three stage paint and therefore will reflect different from angles. I know if I look at my car sometimes it looks like from the factory there are panels that do not match. It is just the angle though.

Hope that helps.

My $.02 on this... I have an '04 CS and had the front bumper repainted yesterday. I too noticed that the match was not "perfect", but very close. I do agree with jhp that the paint reflects differently at certain angles. This along with the fact that the new paint hasn't been subjected to any abuse probably accounts for the difference. The body shop manager (pretty good guy) mentioned that the body, bumpers, and mirrors are not painted at the same time. He mentioned that the bumpers and mirrors come pre-painted and then assembled along with the rest of the vehicle.

I have a SS, and my rear bumper was recently painted. If I looked very hard, I would see that it doesn't match, but it was only very slightly worse than the stock mis-match. I'm very picky, and it isn't something that stands out every day when I look at my car.
