Easy Fix-It for Bumper License Plate holes!!
Hey all.....I know this has been discussed to death around here, but I wanted to start another thread about how I fixed the holes in my bumper.
I was thinking of buying some "real" bumper plugs for $30 online, but I went with some advice from on here.
Assuming your holes are about standard screw size this will work for you.
You'll need:
OEM Touch Up paint ($6)
Dorman Brand "Chysler, Ford, GM Panel Retainers" part #963-045
a very sharp, long, thin knife
I removed my Plate Holder and used a long, thin knife to CAREFULLY slice away any raised plastic surface to make a flush mounting area. this was very easy.
I used the "2 Small Head Nylon Plugs" from the box. it comes with 9 different ones but only 2 were right for the job. it should be the ones with the larger flanges on the back.
It took me 4 coats of OEM paint to make the plugs match the car (red). I let them dry for 16 hours.
Clean the bumper area and using a small towel, push each plug into the holes. It should fit very snugly. You dont have to push very hard.
The final outcome was fantastic. I thought I would mess it all up, but it looks great and only cost a total of $8 and took 24 hours.
Z ya!
