Default license plate

does anybody have those clear covers over their plates that are tinted to make it harder to see the license plate or know where to get them

Why would you want them to be harder to see?

That would look ghetto IMO, not to mention probably being illegal.

LOL this reminds me of threads in Sportbike forums like people asking how they can wire a toggle switch to shut all their bikes lights off while the bikes engine is running. Cops can't ticket what they can't see:-P

I heard they sell some kind of clear cover that is suppose to distort the plate in such a way that red light cameras can't read your plate.

Also heard they didn't work either.

Anyway Pep boys has that stuff in at least smoke, clear and blue that I've seen.

And yeah it's Ghetto. Had one on a Mustang 10 years ago and looking back it was lame and I even got a ticket for it once too, along with expired tags and not wearing my seat belt. Also broke my Fly rod that day too. I hate that lake!!!

+1 on the ghetto!

Sometimes they deflect enought light so when they use cameras to catch speeders, the plates are obscured...so no tickets.

I had the regular smoked transparent ones on my prior vehicle..and it looked ok...till it started getting rock cracks in it. plus is was illegal...basically anything obscuring your license plate is illegal. but a lot of ppl here in hawaii were putting something similar to those on their plates for a while b/c of the van-cam program (guys sitting in vans with cameras and speed detectors). but those covers were actually specifically designed so that if you look straight at the plate, you could see right though, but if you look at it from an angle, then the license plate lettering is obscured which made it hard for the van-cam ppl to get a good picture of your plate.
