a damper is a hood shock....but not something you want to be using on an FRP hood/trunk unless you are very very very careful

So what problems would I run into trying to install a CF or FG hood with hood shocks?

more than likely a cracked hood...at some point, due to the stress being placed on that one single spot. I've seen it happen on several other cars, so would advise against it personally

Cool looking but with the openings facing the window is there any functional value?

To get more air to the engine would the scoop not need to face front?

Maybe hood's only meant to vent out the heat

Hood scoops aren't functional. Rear facing vents allow for a flow of air from the front of the engine bay, to the rear. Forward facing vents don't have an escape for the air.. all of the openings are in one direction.

Try taking a can of coke, and turn it upside down, then take a knife and poke a hole in the bottom. Now turn it upside down. The coke will come out 3x faster...

OT... Is it safe to have a vented hood and drive it in the rain? Wouldnt the rain water cause problems? I want a vented hood in the future but am a little concerned about a vented hood!

Yes, most of hood are meant to vent out heat. Air direct from the front bumper to engine bay then out by vented hood. It is more important tp vent out then take in...

As long as the rain water dont go to your battery and alternator it is fine. On Z this is all protected... So no worry...
