Default Replica or Real JDM ??? That is the question.

Hey guys I'm debating on getting the real jdm Nismo kit or if I should just buy one of the replicas on the market. Just wanted to hear some opinions.

Benfits of the replica are:

1) I can get it in Urethane or fiberglass

2) The price is WAY less

Benfits of Real NISMO:

1) Best fit

2) Its real NISMO stuff.

if you can afford it, get the real deal. much less likely to have problems with fit or finish.

Fit is so important....if a cheap kit doesn't fit you'll end up spending more on body work to make it fit...you are better off with nismo...you definitly get what you pay for when it comes to kits

+1

body kit + prep work + install/fitment time = real cost of body kit

I bought a cheap kit for the '04 I had. I knew it was a cheap kit and I have experience doing body work (dad was a body man for 35 years) and I have the hook-ups when it comes to work. The front bumper only cost me about $200 w/ shipping but if you figure that w/ fitting the kit and all the prepwork that had to done to sand down the crappy gel-coat finishing and mend the weak spots in the glassing, I'd say it would've cost over $800 in labor alone for the average person.

If you have the ability to do this kinda stuff on your own, then a replica would be fine and cost-effective. If you plan on dumping the car and parts off @ a shop and expect to pick it up finished in a week, it'll be cheaper to buy the JDM
