Someone should make "smoked" lens using a material that lightens and darkens electrochromically (similar to a rear view mirror). That way, they could be dark normally, but get lighter/clearer when the light is on (for better visibility).

You should be able to ebay the old lights I would think. Inevitably there will be people buying new Z's that prefer the old ones. You may even be able to arrange swaps as the Subaru owners do with wings. Personally, I think those new tail lights are fugly, but each to his own. Just MHO.

That's too bad... the swap wouldn't be as smooth then. Shouldn't be impossible though... It's probably still too early to say what the market will be for people wanting the other version of the lights. I know many STi owners wanted to get rid of the huge wings asap, while many of the older gen buyers were dying for something new so it worked out.

I know ill probably be flamed but the LED tails and the 03-05 tails dont look to much different to my eyes. What am i missing?
never mind i went out side and acutaly spent time looking at mine, i like my 05 tail lights, both are cool if you ask me.
