instead of ruining the good lines of the z? Every body kit i see just looks like some tacky ricer kit made to draw attention. There are a few exceptions but do any of them actually improve the aerodynamics of the car?

I"m sure there are some. But I'll defer to those with more knowledge. Bump.

The only body kit parts that actually function are the front air dam and the rear wing, so long as you mount them properly (does not flap in the wind). Don't know which one works best for you, depends on your driving style and what function exactly you want.

The Nismo versions supposedly decreases drag and lift while adding downforce. I have seen no solid numbers to back that up though. Most the kits do nothing but add drag and weight to the cars. In most cases, only the front lip spoiler provides much benefit and that is only for high speed or highway driving.

C-west conducts wind tunnel tests on all of their kits.

Veilside from what I heard. But I have no data to back this up either.
Bump for more info.

ING's, TopSecret, and C-west all wind tunnel test thier peices. As well as wind tunnel testing.. there are several racing series in japan (besides JGTC) that show proven benifits to some of the lap times between a stock bodied car and one that has the right Aero-Tuning parts. Its also VERY un-usual to see parts from one manufacture mixed with another.. as these kits work as a system.

My kit felt lighter/if not the same weight as the poly OEM bumpers it replaced. I did not put them on a scale

Adding to what Mike said. From what I have read, the JDM kits are designed with aerodynamics in mind and styling as a benefit. There appears to be some question as to why we 'Mix -n- Match" our body kits when they have been designed as a unit to provide both form and functionality from the Japanese. We tend to think in regards to look, they are focused on performance.

As Mike stated there are proved time trials for some of these kits showing how much they can shave off your lap times. But I am not sure where you can find this information.

I also think some side skirts would be beneficial for cooling the brakes if install and vented properly.

I think the Ings Nspec side skirts would work to increase downforce on a very low car. and FYI, there is no way to reduce drag and increase downforce, aerodynamic downforce requires drag.

As long as it doesn't slow your car down, who cares, it looks better and different from most.

For those that track, anything that can help improve your driving experience is worth it

Who makes that kit? Will it mount on the back of a Z?

Not possible. Aerodynamically-generated downforce is a form of drag. The only reason that any race car (whether it be F1, NASCAR, NHRA, etc.) has a wing is that the slight loss of straight line speed is still preferable in terms of both safety and lap times to the loss of traction.
