Would you really trust some one that cannot even take REAL pictures of there light color? I wouldnt trust anyone that cant take the time to get REAL pictures of all there lights. Anyone could be sitting in the house photoshopping those pictures and selling you bulbs that look nothing like the FAKE pictures.

u got a problem wit me or somethin Hockey....what do u mean "fake" pictures....who would really photoshop a picture of light..actually I have a bunch more...I just picked those because the quality of the camera is not that good(old camera) and the pics straight on distort the light and u really cant see the color very well. matter fact when I get home I'll post all the pics I took and I'll take more day shots and u can do whatever u want with them take it leave it who cares I'm just tryin to help someone out who asked a question. The link I pasted there are the exact bulbs I got and the pictures are the pictures I took.

Let me see if I can sort this out.

1.) the pics in your link to Ebay are photoshopped and are completely worthless. the vendor took a single set of pics and then shifted the hue/color in photoshop to 'represent' the differenct kelvin ratings. Pretty good clue that what you bought was of questionable quality.

2.) the pics that you took and posted were basically useless. they were taken with the car much to close to the wall. You cannot make out much in terms of spread or color since the light is so concentrated and all you can make out is a big bright blob. In all fairness, getting a good shot of a HID setup's color is not easy.

There isn't paint on a D2R bulb. They have shields to control, not block or tint light like you are implying. You are not completely wrong in the 2900 lumens statement.

You need to think of it like this. The light emited from the capsule is the same - regardless D2S or D2R. The D2R has a metal shield on ithe outer portion of the bulb. This shield cuts the overall light output. The reason for this shield is that a D2R is used in a reflector style housing and keeps the light from the capsule off the bottom portion of the housing - controlling the beam pattern

The D2S does not have such a shield, why is this? This is because the D2S is used in a projector housing and rather than having the shield on the bulb itself, the shield in the projector blocks the light in the same way the D2R shield dows. Once in the appropriate housing, the light output should be nearly the same. Though the projector should always have the upper hand.

this thread isnt about spread.....or lumens...any of that.....its about the COLOR!!!
noone asked about the light output cause obviously he just was looking for a better color than stock. Like I said I'm leavin work now and I'll take some more daytime pics.
Also, I thought that he was saying that I photoshopped something and I didnt know
that the vendor did that. Thanks for the insight!

question:

more color = better color??????

IMO, more color in the CUTOFF = better color. More Color in the beam/spread = worse color

DuPont,

I was talking about the eBay vendors pics being photoshopped, I in no way ment the pictures u posted were edited. I was saying I would never trust a site (the vender u linked) that cannot even take the time to take ACTUAL pictures of there different lights. For all you know the actual bulb looks nothing like the real thing b/c what they have posted is fake.

I have noticed the 06 full projection lights have no color at the cut off, this is very dissapointing.

I dont know if it would work on the 06 bi-xenon lights but others have "color modded" there projectors by putting spacers between the shield to give more distance from the bulb. Others have bent there shield but this doesnt seem like an option on bi-xenon lights since the shield has to move when the high beams come on.

For a sharper cutoff you can replace the lense used in your headlight, a more clear lense produces a much sharper cutoff. The shield also effects the cuttoff, but since the light is bi-xenon there isnt much room for modification.

I really have no Idea on a bi-xenon light, with all the moving parts I dont even know if spacing the shield is possible. I know on some other Bi-xenon it is can be done. Go check out http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/ there more information there than you would ever need. You mite even make an account and ask if anyone knows anything about the 06 projectors.

I don't know 100% but just look how every picture is exactly the same. You have to take the tire off, pull the inner wheel well off (on the Z) to get to the bulb, I doubt he sat his car right there in the parking lot to change out each bulb. EVEN IF he did there would be differences in the pictures, I opened them in photoshop and zoomed on small details and they were exactly the same each time (take a look at the tree in each picture it is exactly the same shape, I doubt that would be the case if it were different pictures.) Also I do a bit of photoshopping myself and I know how ez it is to do somthing like that. I am pretty sure there is a way to find out if it was saved as a jpg from photoshop as well, but I dont know how.

Installed 12000k's last night and they look AMAZING. I repeat: AMAZING. I drove through downtown and EVERYONE was staring. It was crazy! I could hear people on the sidwalk saying stuff like "holy ****, nice car" and giving me the thumbs up. The cutoff is gorgeous and the brightness, while somewhat less than that of stock HIDs, is considerable. Still by far brighter than halogens! Can't comment on eye strain yet, except that i didn't experience any. I guess i would if i used them on an unlit highway for 3 hours non-stop, but whenever i'm on unlit highways, i always use high-beams anyway. I got Silverstars for those, but am not happy with them because they still look yellowish (4000K). Gonna replace them with 5000k PIAA's. Shoulda known better. Also, there are LED blinkers on eBay that PERFECTLY match the 12000's. The seller is velocityleds_1 and you can just buy his standard white LED blinkers. They happen to have a very subtle purple shade which just so happens to perfectly match 12000's.
