Default Auto-Dimming rear view mirror question

I have the touring model with the auto-dimming mirror, and am not sure if it is working. My question is - are these rather subtle, or should I be able to tell if it is working? I do not notice any difference when a car is behind me, their lights are still pretty bright. Thanks!

you can tell it is working if the color of the light behind you turns green...

also make sure the auto dimmer function is on by the light that lights up at the bottom of the mirror. Nissan gives you the option of having it on or off.

You should be able to tell the difference when it is working...... also note that the sensors below the mirror must be unobstructed.....once brights pass over the sensor, the dimming function should activate.....you can have situations where brights have not been detected by the sensor.

make sure it is on(green light =on I believe).

My previous car was a 98 Seville with a auto dimming rear mirror also. It hardly worked at all so I just blamed it on GM and lived with it. When I got Z I was expecting to finally have a working mirror but it works even less than the caddy. Can't believe they have the ***** to charge for it.

Sorry to hear that, It works great for me. You can tell how well it works when a huge tall jeep comes behind you with their lights at your eye level. The auto dimmers work to stop you from being blinded by the light, but if you look back with your side mirrors at the tall jeep, you will be blinded by the light. That is how I can tell it works.

+1 Mine doesn’t do sh*t. I had my rear window tinted right after I got my car. I recently had my top replaced (along with my rear window) and now I drive around getting blinded.

I can tell because when I get into my car in the garage with little light, my rearview M, turns a green/yellowish tint.... pull out of my garage, and voila! All clear again.
