I know there are some threads on this but I haven't found one yet on how to remove the aluminium trim piece on the '06 to get to the shaft.

I know I need channal locks and whatnot but what is the trick to popping off the trim ring?

I would search harder but I'm still on dial up, which is painfully slow.

I dont need any pics unless you have them handy and want to post but just a general idea how to go about removing the trim piece.

Ok got that cover off easy enough but this whole process with the vice grips, stuff breaking and everything else has me having 2nd thoughts about trying to yank it off and even install the new one.
