05 halogen to 06 xenon headlights. I DID IT!!!
What i did IS NOT A KIT, as i bought the entire headlight assymblies from performancenissan.com At the time of this posting the cost was $1195.00 for the pair.
That's right folks. IT WORKS PERFECTLY! Yeah, i had to splice, but i took my sweet time and did it right. And NO, the wires did not get even the slightest warm, they stayed cooled even after 20 minutes of being on, so they will not melt your harness. I didn't even use any wiring diagram. If you use your head and use common sense, like black is negative and red is positve (sometimes green or yellow) It is very real that you can switch to xenon easily.
Yes, i have pics of the wiring (not tied and taped yet though) and a shot of the lights on. IT IS F'ING SWEET. I like how they flicker when you start them up. So awesome.
Okay, the 05 base has 6 prongs, the 06 lights have seven and let me state that the extra wire is blue and it is on the blinker component as the 06 models use three wire here and this is because they also have a dual filiment on the blinker ( i opted not to wire that up since i don't want those on when in parking light mode, its just to much IMO, trying to keep it like the 05)
HAHAHA, i am the first to do this. Or at least i am the first to post that i have done it succesfully. If you have questions, even if this is 2 years down the road, email me at: asmith@orscheln.com
PEACE and may one day you other Halogen guys get to do this. Truly a clean swap (minus the wiring)

Here is a snapshot of the wiring until i can get a write up for colors.

congrats man!!! can you please post those wiring pictures up?! Or can you send them to titanium350z@yahoo.com.au? I am thinking about doing the same thing as well...
Appreciate that mate!!!
cheers,

I'm kinda in the same boat, but doing it from 05 to 05 HID's. Could I also get a copy of the pics/wiring. My email is oos15oo@***.net

you might want to rethink that hotglue thing, it will melt if it gets hott enough near the engine. I'd suggest some dual layer heatshrink which is completely waterproof. Also one question do the 06' headlights have a separate hi beam bulb? or are they bi-xenon? and if they are bi-xenon what did the relay wire to?

The wires that activate the bi-xenon "high beam" use the same hot and ground that the high beams use on the halogen lights
great pics.
Can't wait for the wiring diagram, you have helped a bunch of people (about 5 people have asked me if i knew how to do this, but having no access to an OEM HID light, I couldn't help
)

glad to see you got it working. did you upgrade the fuses? also why would the wiring get hotter over time? I would be more concerned about the initial turning on of the lights since thats when they'd be draining more power than those stock halogen wires might be able to handle. while they're running they should drain less constant power than your halogens.
the wiring should not get hotter over time. Xenons actually draw less power than Halogen lights, so the stock wires are enough to handle the power.
I wouldn't worry about it the wires melting (+1.5 years running HIDs using the stock halogen wires).

The strangest thing was turning on the lights with them in "remote" location. i.e. sitting on the floor while on, it was wierd. To be honest i was nervous when i did this but it was for no reason. I was just nervous because there are quit a few people on the boards that simply provide assumption type of posts. I am here to tell you that it works perfectly. I just want to emphasize this as there were no posts that gave any real or accurate information regarding this mod.
I think i spent literatly 10 hours searching, reading, searching and reading the boards here trying every freaking combination of words to try and find good information, but to no avail.
SO... with the little information i recieved on here, such as some people saying it would melt my car and catch it on fire (of course, no one to dispute that claim either) i sat nervously as i drew closer to show time (connecting the negative terminal on the battery and switching the lights on) I held the wires for awhile as the lights were on and then kept checking them every few minutes or so.... And i was a complete nervous wreck as my garage is basically the basement of my house and my car did not have the wheels on AND was on jack stands. So, if my car were to catch on fire i would not only be out of $25,000.00 for the car but also $100,00.00 on the house!! Man, that would be horrible (oh and my cell phone wasn't charged at show time either) talk about the wrong variables (yeah, im a programmer)
So, to help the masses with this, or more accurately, the 05 halogen to 06 bi-xenon guys. I am going to provide an accurate and SIMPLE diagram of which wires to connect. I'm going to research a little on the possibility of making a simple plug n' play connector for this specific application ( will have to research the harness plugs for both ends and how to rewire them ) i honestly don't know for certain if i will prevail, but i'll look into it.
What i like the most about this is the fact that when you buy the 06 lights, everything comes ready, all you have to do is rewire and take off.
I also drove around last night being simply amazed at the difference. As a matter of fact, i was distracted quit a bit on how the light cut's off on the sides of the road, for example the lights would shine on the shoulder about 5 feet up then immediatly cut off, its really cool and interesting how the lights move with the cars suspension and is very noticable.
Also, i am not exactly familiar with the internals of this lights high-beam switching mechanism, but i know that it uses one bulb and some sort of shield that gets moved out of the way when you switch to high beams. You can actually here some sort of mechanized component activating (or de-activating) there is a loud clicking noise. Pretty sweet all around.

Congrat's! .....I converted mine from a 04 Base to a 05 Track HID. Its much harder as the 04 Base has a six prong and the 05 HID has an eight prong, but same principal I prosume!
I was so pissed when everyone said I couldnt do it! We should them.
