Thumbs down Comp display button...

You know, the one that displays the speed, temp, PSI, etc on the first pod. Is it me, or it is a BAD place for it where it is at (right side of speedometer)?

I wish it was at

A) Left side of steering wheel : can switch display without taking hands off.

B) Down near the shifter, where my other hand hangs out...

Anybody has relocated or thought of this? It is the only control I find odd/not user friendly...

Also, old Zs used to have radio controls on the steering wheel. For city driving, I would use those MUCH MUCH more than the cruise.

I think he meant in the lft side spoke of the wheel, like where CC is, only on the other side, youd have to fabricate switches, then yeah, shouldnt be a difficult install.

I wouldnt mind it, cause to be honest, I leave it on speed and that all I use, but it makes me have to play with it since its constantly complaining about temp, or tire pressure. Its like, ok, flash icy at me, flash PSI at me, thats all fine and dandy, I dont need to be taken to that screen everytime I turn on the damn car.

Yes, I meant a good use of the left spoke on the wheel (but more difficult to wire) or down by the shifter (should be easy to run an extra pair of wires down the console, no?)

I do as you, it is always on my speed. I am amazed at how much I like to read my speed there, since my arms tend to be on the way of the regular dials. But, think about, if the button was more accesible, maybe you WOULD use the other functions more often, no? :-)

I am not the fabricating type, mostly because I have two left hands for it. Seems like a push button and two little wires behind the center console would do. Maybe drill a small hole where you want the button, thats about it.

I have to aggree on this, the buttons are totally reachable with your hands on the wheel, and as far as whoever is complaning that they want the button down by the shifter, obviously your hand is NOT on the wheel so what is the big deal with moving your arm a little to push a button? I seriously feel like everything else that could possibly be complained about has been complained about and now everyone is just scraping the bottom of the barrel to find things to point out. If the button placement is such a bother, go trade the car in for something you WONT complain about. Its a friggin stereo sux this or a stupid outlet plug behind the seats or some dumb cup holder placement, ALL THESE THINGS WERE IN THE SAME PLACE THEY WERE WHEN YOU LOOKED AT THE CAR AT THE DEALER! Deal with it and stop complaining.

Good lord, man! Whats with the fury??!!

I am sorry if this bothers you so much, but in the position I drive I guess I lean back too much or my fingers are shorter than yours, because I have to lean forward and take my hand of the wheel to reach the button.

This alone would not make me return the car or stopped me from buying it. Like everything else in this web site, it is just a comment and/or opinion and as valid as any other.

I just thought it might be more usefull closer to my hands. Just like many others who change/mod their cars to fit their taste, I thought there might be others who feel like me.

And, if it bothers you sooo much, just don't read the thread.
