Speedhut has colored dials for the Z in both EL Glow and Reverse EL Glow at 80$. For those who want an easier way...

Nice job man, but yeah I would definitely try to work on those hot spots.
What type of leds did you use behind the gauges? Did you do any thing else in the car in blue? If you want some pointers, shoot me a pm.

Why go through all that hassle if these go for $80, I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, just an honest question?

Because they use EL panel to illuminate the gauges. I wanted a true blue color, not the light blue from EL.

You have spent some time on your gauages and they look great..

Do you have any pictures of your process, maybe a few tips or pointers for someone who wants to do the same to their gauges? ANy knowledge you could drop would be cool

Thanks Acree, that was what I ment by an honest question. I know about the satisfaction of doing it yourself....see my other posts....I was more so asking the difference of the El vs the DIY route.

How do you fix the "hot spots"? I've done this as well and i have a couple that i want to smooth out. Just the placement of the LEDs?

yeah its placement of the LED's and also i put mirrors 1/3mm mirrors in the gauge cluster and it evened it out well. i have 1 hot spot on the 6 but its not very noticable in person unless your looking for it. they look 10x better in person then pictures and videos (as you probably know)

Why? Because I wouldn't be able to achieve this look (Hotspots aren't as bad with my Luxeons. I had PLCC2s, and they were terrible for my setup):

Noobs,

You guys need to learn what diffuser is . Call Alex at Black Cat Custom. He should be able to tell you where to buy the diffuser vinyl that he supplies with his gauge faces. The only way to get true smoothness and eveness through out the cluster, like in my picture, is careful placement of this diffuser material. You have to mimic the placement like on the back of the stock gauges.
