I just called Courtesy.
Apparently this is a motorized/electrical part.
They claim this will not fit the 03-05's. Since even if you buy the rest of the center console, the 1st generation doesn't have the wiring for it.
My guess it's that you can probably fabricate it. Any volunteers?

I could fabricate some wiring pretty easily so that it goes up with the ignition and down when you turn the car off. Getting it to actually fit in 03-05's I couldnt say for sure...Id need to see the 06 piece up close.

SmokyTyrz I to am think about doing this mod. I was just wondering what screen are you trying to put in there. and have you found it for cheaper anywhere else, cause that alot of money. Is this just like the 03 nav door but it just match our color. Hit me back thanz.

People have tried to use the motorized door on a non nav car.. I think most have failed because you need to recreate some proprietary circuit that doesn't exist on the non nav car...and it was just too hard or something.. But if you do it successfully please post up .. lots of people would like to know
The correct "finisher" is needed because the door latches onto it and if you don't have one or have the wrong one, the door won't close..
They changed finishers between 2003 and 2004-05,, I think it may be different again with 2006..

Must be because the door doesn't seem to latch onto anything. But again, it will all make sense to me once I have the piece in-hand.
evobunny: "Hitting you back".... Please go back and re-read the post. I am not putting in a screen. And you can probably surf on your own to see if the door is cheaper somewhere else. I bought mine at Courtesy because they are the only place I could find the motorized door that matches my interior. If I had found it somewhere cheaper I probably woulda told ya.
HBenet: If the wiring is the only problem and not the fitment of the door then you likely can do it. Again, if you read the original post you'll see that I have a friend who made a custom microprocessor controller to replace the one in the OEM Cluster Lid Amp. It's not installed yet so I cannot speak to function or reliability, but soon. But the guy who built it has one working in his car now. And he tested it so I'm hopefull it will work.
Cheers,

K... corresponded with the fellow who built the door nav door upgrade for me which enables the door to work without the OEM nav brain. He says he thinks he is able to take a few orders if folks are interested.
Of course, I'm still waiting to get mine done so I can't comment on the work. But he is a real nice guy, very honest, and he does take his time so be patient. The work he produced looked top-notch. I've seen home-brew electronics before and this thing looked like it came out of a factory clean-room.
Anyway, the guy is here on my350z. His forum name is BPL. He said just to PM him.
Cheers,

It says that the wiring and drive motor are not included. Do you have a part number for the motor?
I thought that all 06's did not have a door with the naviation. do some come with the door as an option?

The motor, PCB motor controller, gear drive, and everything to make the door "operate" are included with the door. What is not included is the Cluster Lid Amp, which contains a microprocessor and a ribbon cable interface to connect to the PCB on the door.
You need to purchase the "Cluster Lid Amp" separately. It is not shown on the website, so you have to call them.
The microprocessor that is replaced is contained within that piece.

For those with 03-05 models, you can try usingthe 2004 parts:
Motorized Cluster Lid - 68250-CD070 - $108
Motorized Cluster Lid Amp - 24898-CD010 - $187.60
I believe someone has gotten them to work but it will require a separate circuit. Check out this thread from a while ago:

BPL had his friend built a special circuit for the motorized function to work. Smoky, is that who you contacted to have the circuit built?

Yeah I've already pm'ed him and posted in his original thread. I see you're in Allen. Any chance you'll be coming closer to Fort Worth or any Dallas meets? I would love to see your PC setup, as I will be purchasing parts for mine in the next 2 weeks. I really want to get the motorized door working.

Before I go bug the guy, for us that are electronically savvy, you think he'd just furnish a schematic/details, incase we want to just do it ourselves?

Sorphin: I don't know. Maybe you should ask him?
Acree: I'd be happy to show you my setup once it's complete. It is not a PC though. Just a panel with some controls, and a g-meter. I'm sure we'll connect at a meet soon enough. Are you going to the meet being planned for June in the Texas Regional Forum? I dunno if I'll have my stuff finished by then, but hopefully I will. :-)
