Well, yes and no. Yes in that it is the same size so it should fit the same screens. But no in that this one is motorized and not "flip up".

 

well can you flip it up yourself.

 

The motorized one cannot be flipped manually unless you remove the motor cog. But if you do that then there would be no resistance and nothing to hold the door in either the open or closed position.

 

Wait, that is a motorized door from the 2006 model? I thought the 2006 Z's with navigation didn't have a door PERIOD? Can someone with stock navigation on an 06 confirm this?

 

Don't suppose you have some other method to get a hold of BPL? He doesn't seem to respond to PMs..

here is a writeup of an older cubby door installed in an 06... it doesnt fit that good really, looks kinda bad IMO.

I'm not sure if this guy is on here or not, but its a pretty nice setup.

 

The 03 door doesn't look to good on the 06's closed.

Ya, I dunno yet cuz obviously I haven't installed my door yet. But I would have to chalk most of that up to soddy workmanship. Looks like he was in a rush if that is how it came out. Maybe the screen caused fitment issues.

Several things you gotta remember... one, I am a perfectionist. My car would never leave the garage looking like that.

And second, if it doesn't fit well, then I'll do what needs to be done or scrap the whole project. But I don't half-***.

But I suspect that in the worst-case scenario (the door doesn't fit at all) then I can just take the door off my flip-lid and replace the door on the motorized lid. Not that hard really.

 

Well, this is why I'd be using the actual 06 motorized cubby that nissan has for the 06

So does anybody know exactly what kind of control system is needed? KPtechnologies could product the circuit, but I don't really want to spend $300 for test parts until I'm sure we can make it work.

It seems like it should be simple enough, and relatively cheap for a custom electronic circuit.

KP I'll put BPL in touch with you. He has a working setup (though I have yet to test it myself as the project is still in progress). But he says his works! It would rock if you or anyone could produce the replacement module for the cluster lid amp assembly.

We use Atmel AVR microcontrollers for everything we do. Very powerful and efficient, with a ton of nice built in hardware features.
