Question What happends to insurance when installing a body kit?

If I install a bodykit, will the insurance cover it or if something happens (knock wood!) will they replace the bumper with the stock one ?

that will be up to you. They will only give you the price of replacing your stock bumber but most of the time that is less then what it will cost you to replace a aftermarket bodykit type. You can also have them insure it for more based on upgrades you do but it will increase your premium.

Statefarm will cover up to 1000 dollars of upgrades, accessories, etc. anything else you pay more.... I could be wrong, but I remember my policy saying it will cover $1000 dollars, not sure about peformance stuff....

I will have some more experience shortly
I kissed a guardrail with my integra gsr (full bodykit) last night. I lost bumper, passanger side fender, cf hood, and aftermarket headlight. I don't have any extra coverage for the body kit but know from the last time when son got T-boned that the body kit install was a lot cheeper then the OEM factor items

Based on the first experience you come out ahead by using aftermarket items rather then OEM factory stuff. However if you have done a lot of engine work or high dollar wheels then best to add coverage. You can get anything you are willing to pay for when it comes to insurance.
