Default Interior mods complete: harness, wheel, boots, etc

Interior install is complete and wanted to share...

Added:
Schroth 4-point harness
Sparco harness bar
Works Bell BLS Flip-hub
Nardi Sport Rally 330mm wheel, Suede w/ red stitching
Redline custom shift boot and e-brake boot, w/ matching red stitching
Finally mounted AEM A/F gauge via Autometer black gauge cup, connected via TXS Tuner

Fit and finish of all parts is outstanding and way beyond expectation. I knew the Schroth belts would be great as I've used them in two other cars. They are the safest and most comfortable harness belts ever!

The Sparco harness bar is a very solid piece of equipment. Once properly torqued down it is rock-solid. You will however lose the nifty "belt retainer loops" that help keep the stock belt from twisting. Only newer models need to worry about this though.

The BLS hub is as gorgious as I imagined it would be. Mine is black, but it is also available in a very pretty polished finish. It is VERY solid and very well engineered. There is no slack at all because of the flip mechanism. This is an exact-tolerances part. And the ability to flip up the wheel makes it 100% easier to hop out of the deep-bucketed Sparco's without looking like a circus performance.

The ergonomics of the wheel, seat, pedals, and shifter are now 100% perfect. I couldn't have dreamt of a better feeling setup.

And install was a breeze. Aside from needing a few specialized tools (yay new tools!!) like a 5/16 hex socket and a 3/8" torque wrench (I only had 1/2") it was absolutely beginner-level work.

Removing the OEM airbag was the scariest part. Everything else was just patience and taking the time to torque everything properly, as it really, really, REALLY matters for safety equipment. And the W/B hub comes with the two required airbag-disable resistors (2 ohm each), pre-wired to plug right into the OEM harness.

The hub kit also includes a 12v horn lead via OEM molex harness plug, so you can very easily plug into the stock harness and retain the horn functionality with no splicing or soldering AT ALL!

The Nardi Sport Rally wheel is 330mm in diameter, about .75 inches less than stock. The rim is solid, and I got it in suede which feels fantastic. Very grippy and comfortable.

With the seat, the short wheel boss, the flip hub, and the new wheel (which is "deep-corn" or deep-dish), the reach and feel are absolutely spot-on. I would say this setup brings the wheel a full 1" closer to the driver's reach, which allows for a much more comfortable and natural straight-leg/bent arm driving posture.

And the Redlinegoods.com shift and e-brake boots are very high quality. Install was a snap, and the shift-boot's holes are punched perfectly for the Z's console. The red-stitching is a perfect match for that on the wheel.

I'm lovin it!!! Up next, I am researching Nardi's ability to make custom horn buttons to see if I can obtain a Nismo horn button to replace the standard, albeit very pretty Nardi horn button.

PS: Yes I know, car is filthy.. no time yet for a good wash and vacuum!!

How did you mount your a/f gauge? I have not been able to find a good single gauge pod that didn't look absolutely horrendous.

Passenger seat is claimed by the wife, and un-moddable. :-)

i like what i see!! when you say the sparco bar bolted in, you mean absolutely no modding of the area, you just undid the belt loop and the bar bolted in it's place?

Yup! It's super easy. Talked with Sparco directly, since they do not have an install guide for the Z posted yet. Takes about 20 minutes or less to install this bar!

Like most harness bars, most likely it just mounts to the stock upper seat belt mounts.

so no airbag light, then? can you pm or post where you got the hub & steering wheel? really want to do that as well, but have heard stories that the included bypass for the airbag is mostly crap from a lot of places. but if your setup works, I'd love to know more!

Its ez. just lift up the center console, slide the boot over the lever, then tuck it into the console and set it back down. Stays put real well.

Harness mounts to a Sparco Harness bar, which mounts to the OEM upper belt points.

I got my setup from mynismo.com. They seem to work closely with A-Spec for this stuff.
