I think it's funny I got called out for a new project. This project isn't that difficult to implement, but the problem is the stock Z needles. I've wanted to change them to blue or white, but the material they are made out of IS orange plastic. No color will go through unless its orange or red.
IF I can find some new needles that are the exact same length and clear plastic, I could very easily do this. I will look into it.

Yeah, try to do it independent; wiring it in with the shift light would make the needle flicker, which would be annoying. You'd want it to function like the shift light, though, coming one before redline as a warning, so woring it in to the shift light for that purpose would be good; just need to make it light constantly.

Without watching the vid I thought the needle changed very rpm. = rice.

aside from the flashing problem (which could be kinda cool), wouldn't that also be all or nothing? so when the rev light was flashing the needle would flash normal brightness to the extra brightness? i wonder if there is a way to do it like the gto instead, so it gradually gets brighter. it would be even cooler if you get a way to do it with a rgb led so the color completely changes through the revs.
