Default Cup holder in the dash help needed

03 Zed..

I was attempting to push back in the cup holder the other night and it would not go back in.. I ended up pushing it too hard and it finally went in but not without a loud "pop" with the noise of something coming loose and bouncing around.. I felt underneath the lower dash and found a spring.

Now my cup holder won't open with the push of a finger.. I have to pull it out which becomes a pain.. so i found out how to take out the cup holder and see that nothing is broken.. just the spring needs to be put back on.

Thing is, I have no idea where it goes. I took some pictures to post here to show the parts in hope that someone could maybe take a look at theirs and see where this spring connects. maybe even take a picture.. BUT, I don't have my USB cable for my digi.. it doubles as a USB cable for a portable USB drive that my friend has at the moment.. so instead of waiting to get this cable tomorrow I figured I would post this now in hopes that someone would know where this spring goes back on.. I will post the pics here tomorrow..

any help is appreciated.

To take your cup holder out all you need is a small flat head screwdriver.. when the cup holder is extended, you will see a groove on the top in the middle.. just place the screwdriver in there and push down.. then pull the cup holder all the way out..

pix as promised:

This is the spring that came off... I need to know where it goes back on at..

this is the cup holder upside down..

You may be missing a piece - that spings doesn't go on the holder itself - it goes in the dash- pic:

hope that helps.
