Default Nismo RS Concept Bonnet

Anyone know if this is out yet? If so where can one acquire?

Its the vented bonnet off the Concept RS Nismo 350z.

Thanks
Murray

Murray... the best way would be buying a CF/kevlar bonnet and cut those holes out... if you want one done, probably we can get that done together

cheers,

There are a few members here that have had body shops do that to their stock hoods.

You cannot buy this hood. It is purely DIY.

It would be a better idea to buy a cf OEM style hood and chop that instead of cutting the OEM hood.

I asked the body guy to do it for me but he said he wouldnt suggest it because fiberglass isnt strong enough. He told me he would cut the CF hood though. Goodluck!

No matter which hood you use as a donor, you will be cutting into the structural frame of the hood which will weaken it. I was going to do this same thing and decided against it because of this fact.

Guys, since most of FRP or CF hood is double layers. You will be cutting the top part of it only. It is the reverse side backbone holds the hood. As long as that part is not cut, hood is still very strong.

once top layer is cut, there will be holes off here. So back bone sturcture still okay...

Sorry Jay, but that just isn't true. You have to cut through the entire hood if you want the actual vents to come through. I've seen two hoods done with this RS type mod and IMO it is not the way to go.

Actually the Nismo V2 hood is made of dry carbon... stronger than the OEM hood.

I can't imagine worrying about the "structural integrity" of your hood by doing this mod, it can't be that big of a deal in a crash...........then again that's purely IMO.

Yeah but what if it starts cracking just from the pressure of the oncoming air at high speeds? I'm sure the hood flexes a bit and if the structure isn't as strong, it might crack.

look at the muscle cars with the fiberglass hoods from the 70s! they would bend like a peice of thin gauge! hood pins that thing'll probably shake crazy if it really compromises, but you could always box the ends to help a little (though I doubt it would matter much)

if you do do it, please put black mesh in it.

Matt (ZU L8R) on these forums has cut out those holes on his OEM hood. They look pretty damn good.

I may do that sometime as well.
