Thats a great price for a motorized sunroof!

I really felt confined in the Z when I test drove, felt like it needed a sun roof or t-tops

Guess I was spoiled by the high roofline and huge sunroof in the IS.

Thought the same. Looks tiny. Inside looks great but outside reminds me of a 200.00 pepboys do it yourself kit. Believe me I have installed my share of the do it yourself kits. But if your happy with it than let your hair blow.

That looks pretty good. Not interested in a 'wind deflector'?
I was told by my salesperson (not verbatim) that the reasoning behind Nissan not having a sunroof in that vehicle has something to do with the slope of the roof/wind resistance (or thereabouts). He said that it would 'tear-up'-go figure. Now, seems to me that if that were so, the dealership would not install one in the first place, one would have to get it installed elsewhere, thereby, Nissan would not be getting 'flack' for this feature...

In short, I like the top; it's too bold a move for me. Had that been a dealer option, I would have taken it. I'm not paying for that 'after the fact'. Good luck. In California? Hey, 'any way the sun shines is cool w/me'!! Use to live near Redondo Beach

Incidentally Spaceman, that sunroof looks like it could have been a little wider. Do they choose the size for you? Did you decide to go with a smaller sunroof? What's the dealey?

The sunroof looks good, and looks like you got a pretty decent price.

I would be afraid to do that...not that I need to since I have a soft top but...well...you know. In the back of my mind I'd always be thinking..."Is it centered?" or "is the hole square?"

Looks very goos closed, but open, looks like a roof scoop or mini wing on the roof, not a fan of that, i like the sunroof's that go into the roof, not outside of it. All in all looks like a very nice setup

LOL..yea it's old. I didn't bring it back but decided to post anyways...

droptoppaul--the roof in the Z doesn't have a large enough area to put a fully enclosed sun-roof. That and it's not flat enough. This is just about the only kind of sun-roof that one can put into a Z.

I think it looks great.. The Z is the first car I've ever owned without a sunroof and I miss it on a nice summer/spring day/night here in the Northeast..

It's been almost two years now since the original post... I wonder how the roof is holding up?

Sunroof is holding up just fine and I'm still very happy with it. It still has little rattles but I always drive with it open anyways so can't hear those little rattles nor all the other rattles in this pre-order 03. Not that the sunroof being open is wind noisy...it is actually less wind noisy then the sunroof in my wife's BMW 330...I dislike sunroofs that retract into the roof...they seem to cause weird airflow around my head...maybe because I'm 6'2". As for the roof line of the Z and how it affects the sunroof...it seems perfectly built for it...keeps wind noise low even at very high speed, little turbulence comes into the cabin even though I'm tall and would feel it, wind deflector not needed. As for any leaks...none at all even in heavy rain. As for the size of the sunroof, at first it does look a bit small but you get used to it and from the inside it is plenty big enough. Haven't yet seen another 350Z with a sunroof installed...but some fellow Z'ers who have did say my install looks cleaner then others...especially on the inside as my original headliner was re-used keeping it very OEM looking.

Thought I'd provide a current update on my sunroof on my brickyard. It's been installed a bit over 3 years now with no troubles until recently. A few months ago something broke so that it doesn't slide fully open anymore...I think it is probably some rubber band type thing (aka pulley of some sort). I've got 70,000 miles on the car so far and I used the sunroof at least 6-8 cycles per day every day (cycle being an open and close)...so I think I just wore it out. It still pops up in the normal spoiler type fashion and that is how I have been using it these last few months until I have time to take it into the shop and get the band replaced. No other problems, no leaks, etc.

But even though it only lasted 3 years without any issues...I'm still very happy with it and would do it all over again. Having the sun and fresh air only a button away is very much worth it here in SoCal for me...and getting it via the sunroof versus the side window wind buffeting is much nicer.

To Frenzy757 regarding the wind flowing through it...

Very little flows through...which is perfect. You can have the thing fully open and be flying down the road at 120mph...and it won't buffet you inside the car. Probably due to the curveline of the roof. It's one of the best placements for a sunroof for any car I've been in, much better then the noise and wind that intrudes in my wife's 330i BMW sunroof.
